Project Summary
Students with special needs and pupils without any special needs built together an effective sustainable development chain in Europ in each participating school :
– they shares their works, tools an experiment in their own school and with other european young people.
– they were sensibilised to a preservation of hearth with several actions (growing up invasive plants, cooking with healthy products, sustainable developement’s vocabulary….)
– they prepared a program in their own country, with areas that can be visited, places of interest etc. The focus includes historical sites and areas in relationship with sustainable development. Students had the opportunity to explore their surroundings by making visits to places of interest, before their hosts come and visit them. Portugal, due to the covid, could’nt, unforntunatly receive the delegation
– The focus includes annual school celebrations around Europ, but in 2020 they could’nt exhibit their work
The thematic cross curricular approach sits well within the curriculum of all partner schools. This approach helped the students to develop key skills and competencies. The project work were developed through traditional subjects including sustainable citizenship, social and life skills with a presentation of their country and their establisment with a slide show, and a city guided tour. Students developped a greater understanding of their own culture as well as discovering a great deal about the culture and languages of the partner countries.
Throughout the project, students and staff communicates with each other about their work through a variety of ways – exhange of experiences around invasive species, emails, happy new year’s cards, video ( works are on eTwinning). The school exchanges the cross curricular work with students from other European Countries
The different school trips were extraordinary. Students were able to share another way of thinking, teaching with students with disabilities. They discovered local cultures (Breton, Asturian) that were unknown to them : Carnac’s megaliths, the history of the city of Vannes or of Gijón… They were also able to see what brought them together : a gastronomy close between the Spanish and the French: pancakes, cakes, cider. Spanish and Portuguese students were able to share with French students the experience of collecting baccharis and acquiring knowledge about local invasive species. They could discover Dédale, an ephemeral museum with a graffiti artist.
Sharing was the pillar of this beautiful collaboration
