Project Summary

The need of the project United Colours of Europe arose from TCA Transnational Cooperation Activity, that took place in Warsow, Poland in december 2017. It was found necessary to improve the following areas: the inclusion of children from different cultural backgrounds in the educational process, development of teachers’ and pupils’ ICT skills and improving the quality of education through internationalisation.

The project aims to promote citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination, as well as enhance the quality of education and internationalization, enable the school staff and children to raise their professional qualifications, to improve the educational process, integrating the skills acquired through mobility, and to expand the opportunities for European cooperation in order to modernize and internationalise the curriculum.

United Colours of Europe is a school partnership project between schools in France (La Reunion), Germany (Friedrichshafen), Portugal (Madeira) and Sweden (Stockholm). It will run for two years and will comprise one transnational preparation meeting and four student mobility meetings (one in each country), as well as a continuous collaboration between the students and the staff with the help of eTwinning, blogs, video and mail communication throughout the whole two-year period.
The main goal of the project is to create an awareness in our students and communities of what a global European identity entails and the opportunities it brings for future academic and professional careers. Additional goals include improving the students’ foreign language skills and promoting the use of digital platforms and tools for communication and academic work.

The motivation behind the project is that all parts experience that the diversity of European identity and cultures is underexposed in their schools and communities; the students need to improve their English language skills and widen their perspectives with regard to the opportunities of academic and professional careers in Europe.
The main goals we would like to achieve with the project:
Student competences:
– improve their social and civic awareness and develop a better understanding of the global European identity
– improve their knowledge of the cultural diversity and heritage of Europe
– improve their skills in using digital tools for international teamwork and digital means of communication
Staff competences:
– improve their skills in working with digital platforms for international cooperation
– establish long-lasting contacts with international partners to use in future projects
– acquire new educational tools in the fields of foreign language learning and informational technologies
Families and communities:
develop an interest in and acceptance of the diversity of cultures and languages in Europe
promote an understanding for the global European identity and the opportunities it brings
