Project Summary

The motivation of our project – together with our partners – is that we believe that the process of learning and teaching along the lines of children, parents and European values with modern, up-to-date tools and methods requires teachers with a modern approach.
The impact of explosive ICT and digital development is already strongly detectable in kindergarten, so we need to accept and acknowledge the need for ICT tools in preschool education as well, as the alpha generation has emerged for whom it is already known and for them it is an interesting, motivating tool.
It is an important mission for educators to successfully apply modern tools and methods in the process of preschool education, skills development, to authentically inform parents about the possible dangers and harmful effects of the digital, online world, and to support families in the right balance of Internet use at home. The re-framing of home use habits in kindergarten, teaching the correct use and user boundaries also impose a huge responsibility on educators.
Our partnership consists of 4 kindergartens, two of them already use digital tablets – one of them has integrated this tool and methods into the everyday life of kindergarten education, the other kindergarten is less successful but uses it, while the other two institutions of the partnership are not proficient at all in digital competencies yet.
We all consider the learning and development opportunities gap filler provided by the project in the training of teachers. The project aimed at exchanging innovative elements and good practices through collaboration. The aim is not only to get to know the tools and methods and to apply them all in practice in kindergarten development: according to the topics of the partner meetings and the short-term trainings we indicated the general theoretical training, the assistance of the institutional documentation work, and prevention, integration and burnout issues in the field of child protection and the development of an open, evolving pedagogical attitude towards European values was also identified as an important task.
Through the common work for example the team of Királyhelmec (SK) provides significant practical guidance to the other partners during a short-term training, exchange good practices, but the main backbone of the project is innovation – not only in terms of digital competences, but also in terms of related developmental neurological factors.
That is why the question of digital equality plays a particularly important role as early as preschool age – reducing early school leaving and digital exclusion will also be an important task for the future. The goal is to educate students to be digital citizens, but this requires well-trained educators and well-informed parents.
The project plans 5 international partner meetings and 4 short-term trainings during which lifelong learning can take place. The acquired experience and knowledge help to form complex personalities, the basics of IT education start in kindergarten, the ability to perception, orientate in plane and space, prevent partial abilities, develop, catch up, compensate for disadvantages, talent management with modern methodological elements.
During the project, the primary prevention work stands out in some of the training elements, which is the development of the correct use of ICT tools, the analysis of hazards and the symptoms of consequences, the credible informing of parents and that excessive use of ICT tools can become dangerous. The use of ICT tools in kindergartens and at home must not take time away from the primary activity of young children: free play, storytelling, poetry-singing, physical movement ensuring physical and mental health in joint activities of personal contact!
Educators need regular professional, methodological renewals, spiritual refreshment, not only in order to develop their methodological culture, but also because of the risk of burnout. In our project, new methods, knowledge, practical tricks, new tools give impetus to our work, we can take a look at the professional repertoire of other countries, we can get different approaches, teaching and learning practices of other countries, which helps to go beyond our usual practice and pedagogical habits. Participating educators can gain and develop success, become more confident and professionally refreshed.
Elements of implementation include lectures on theory, practical workshops, focus group discussions, and meetings with parents to help us achieve our goals. With the involvement of equal opportunities specialists, family therapists and psychiatrists, we get relevant knowledge related to the project in addition to learning about digital techniques and methods. All this is the basis for educating the next generation! Digital educators = digital children = digital citizens = European integrity!
