Project Summary

The necessity for transnational co-operation has been determined by the following needs:

– necessity to strengthen the pedagogical approach of learning through drama and play within the early childhood educational practice;

– teachers’ insufficient knowledge and skills for teaching drama;

– parents’ insufficient involvement as active contributors to the quality of the early childhood education.

The objectives of the partnership are as follows:

– development of the set of innovative educational resources for integration of play and drama within early childhood educational process;

– promotion of early childhood teachers’ professional development and experience exchange;

– testing in educational practice the innovative pedagogical approaches and methods;

– encouragement of parental involvement and motivation;

– promotion of dissemination of the best practices among early childhood teachers.

The project is addressed for the following target groups:

– teachers working in ECEC settings;

– children involved in ECEC;

– parents and other family members;

– children and families with fewer opportunities (cultural differences, socio-economic obstacles, disability, health problems);

– the results of the project could also be used in the primary education, non-formal education, special education.

The partnership envisages to develop a set of teaching resources consisting of drama guidelines addressed to early childhood education settings, a book of drama exercises and games, a collection of videos, a collection of fairy tale dramatizations.

It is expected that the project will have an impact on a wide range of institutions around Europe as the methodology of the teaching resource is usable internationally.

Teachers, children and parents will be involved in local drama workshops and will stage a theatre performance.

At the end of the project the international scientific methodological conference will be carried out. Participants of the project will present their findings achieved by the analysis of literature and their own empirical experience.
