Project Summary
The method of language animation has become indispensable in the field of intercultural exchange pedagogy as well as in plurilingual language learning situations in national contexts. Language animation supports a natural communication strategy, it helps to reduce inhibitions and to support curiosity about foreign language(s) and culture(s).
Multipliers learn these methods best through a solid basic training or through learning over several exchanges in an experienced team of trainers. Unfortunately, the possibility of acquiring competence in this way is only available to very few people. Many motivated professionals therefore try to approach the methodology through manuals with the necessary background knowledge. From our experience, however, it is hardly possible to understand the flow of the methods well even from a very good method description.
In this learning partnership, we recorded the most important fifteen methods of language animation in short videos in the languages Greek, Spanish and Portuguese in concrete international exchange situations. In addition, three videos were made per language on the theoretical basis of language animation. The videos and a description of each method as a PDF were published on the website www.languageanimation.org to give professionals the opportunity to see the methods “in action”.
A total of 54 videos, 45 method descriptions as PDFs and the extension of the website for language animation in Greek, Portuguese and Spanish were produced. In the context of these language areas, very few training seminars for language animation are offered at the moment. With our proposal, we will be able to disseminate the method there with a high level of quality.
