Back to the nature- cross-border environmental education in an innovative way The participating schools are:Magyar Műhely ÁMK (Mezőörs, Hungary)Marianum Magyar Tannyelvű Egyházi Iskolaközpont (Komárno, Slovakia)Csíkpálfalvi Márton Ferenc Általános Iskola(Csíkpálfalva, Romania)All of the schools are elementary and secondary schools, focusing on environmental education, pointing out their local values.The project coordinator Magyar Műhely ÁMK, in the 22 years of its existence, as an adult education centre and a primary and secondary education system were established together with an environmental education centre and member schools were added to the cooperation, as well.Our project is developing a school garden with medical plants and herbs, traditionally grown in the country, including the practical usage of them with the aim of deepening the students’ environmental thinking .The students from the participating schools would create small gardens and they would be responsible for them. They would take part in a quiz consisting of several rounds while following the project, finding out about the physiological effects of the plants,their cultural background and the related works of art, motifs, cultural aspects of their tradition referring to each country.The participating students would spend themed weeks together while visiting each other’s institutions, based on the practical usage of herbs (preparing of small products, jams and syrups, etc.). They would also meet some local farmers, visit markets and botanical gardens moreover, they would learn about traditional crafts in order to children’s knowledge could be enriched by.During the implementation time of the project we would lead a blog documenting the current happenings, under a practical observation research carried out by the students, including with the setting of a small meteorological station, with the aim of monitoring and data analysis of the different environmental changes. During the project the students would prepare a boardgame including a brochure with drawings, photographs, descriptions of the plants and completed with their own experiences and comments, this could be the base of an environmental thematic.This project would help the development of basic skills, including science and technology skills, to strengthen the competencies of constructive co-operation, cooperation and the development of social skills are all means of educating the children for life. The preparation a could be a practical real-life experience for the kids.Tha goal of the partners is to integrate environmental mindfulness and education in their current activities and to share this experince with other institutes.The impact of the project’s end product, which we intend to present in wider international round, but we achieve other institutes within the borders of the country (Eco-School Network Newsletter).We hope that cooperation between the countries could serve this objective even more efficiently.Age group: 12-16 yearsImplementation period: 36 months
