Until now, MICE has been a rapidly and dynamically developing industry, and its role is constantly growing – this translates into the expectations of customers but also the needs and competences of employees operating in this industry. Currently, due to the market situation, the MICE industries will also be affected by the crisis.
It is closely connected with the tourist sector and its industries, among others HORECA – using its resources facilities, hotels, gastronomy, catering services, conference rooms and green spaces. The increase in the competence of MICE employees, and thus the development of the industry will also affect the functioning of the entire tourism market and leisure time management.
The needs of the implementation of the project result from the experience of the Partnership, which shows that on the domestic markets of the Partners, as well as European and international, there is no description of the work standard for the event organizer, which was a compendium of professional knowledge along with tools, methods, possibilities and development directions for MICE employees and tourism sector.
Therefore, the project will focus on the profession: event organizer in the MICE industry.
Project Vocational competences in MICE sector is a response to these needs and diagnosed problems and expectations of the industry. It will be implemented in a partnership that has experience in joint cooperation for vocational education and the tourism industry: WSTIE (Poland), EDU SMART (Ireland), ECYS (Hungary).
The goal of the Event manager – proffesional skills project is to develop an event organizer work standard in the MICE industry along with a professional competence model, in accordance with EQF, which will increase qualified MICE employees and help develop MICE services and the entire tourism market.
The project is in line with sectoral priorities
– Vocational education and training: Further improve key competences in the field of initial and continuing vocational education and training
– Vocational education and training: Increasing access to training and qualifications for all
And horizontal:
– Supporting people in acquiring and improving basic skills and key competences

As part of the results of intellectual work, it is planned to:
1) Conducting desk research (O1)
2) Developing the qualification and work standard of the event manager (event organizer) (O2)
3) Development of model professional guides for the MICE industry (O3)
4) Development of the SOFT SKILLS guide for event organizers in the MICE sector (O4).
5) Development of tools supporting the acquisition of specific competences for the organizer’s work in the form of games – QUESTS (O5)
6) Preparation of the course program and professional internship for MICE event organizers (O6)

The project will be attended by experts, specialists and scientists active in the MICE sector, specialists, trainers, educators in the field of education and adult education, users using available materials, participants in dissemination activities, employees and entrepreneurs in the MICE industry and the tourism market.

The developed results of intellectual work will be innovative in terms of material comprehensiveness, which will include a description of the profession, development paths, list of tasks and professional competences and relations between professional competences. The results will also contain the level of qualifications in the EQF, and the organiser’s standard of work and this will be available to be used by the entire tourism industry .
Focusing on the quality of services, increasing the skills of MICE specialists and deepening professional knowledge of professionals based on current trends will help to strengthen the professional industry.
The skills of MICE sector employees are very important in the development of their careers, in offering high quality services, but also directly affect the development of the tourism industry, including MICE. Considering the dynamic development of the MICE sector, it is important to take up the challenge in developing work standards of the event organiser in order to systematise their activities, enrich work skills, improve professional qualifications and multitasking that accompanies this profession every day. Event organisers, as MICE employees, are the target group of the project – raising and adapting their qualifications to market needs, developing creative and entrepreneurial attitudes in society and awareness of lifelong learning are of particular importance for vocational training, including the MICE sector.
