Project Summary
13 German and 15 Czech students from years 9-11 took part in this project. The pupils researched the history of their homestate as well as the history of the EU, the political attitude towards the EU and recent challenges of the EU. In addition they also did research on institutions of the European Union. In this context the European Central Bank, the European Parlament and other important institutions were visited. Global players like SSI Schäfer and Skoda were also on the list as was a small private brewery. Sights also included played of the shared history of Germany and the Czech Republic such as Karlstein castle, the Heydrich assassination memorial site and a nuclear fallout shelter in Prague.
The results of the research and these excursions led to the development of a simulation game. The German participants were primarily responsible for the content and the Czech participants for the layout of this game.
