Project Summary

Our project “We move (in) Europe – yesterday, today and tomorrow” was mainly focused on pupils. (The methods, activities and events were chosen in order to make pupils involved in the project out of their own will.) In this Project worked 5 small countryside schools and kindergartens from Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Italy 3 years together. The project activities include children from the age of 3 to 15 years old and build bridges between kindergarten, primary, secondary and special needs school.
With this project we opened children’s and pupils’ minds and by the end they became move-motivated and widely thinking for future life in Europe. Throughout the project activities we reached the aims and we developed basic skills, technical understanding and their knowledge about various aspects of transport. We connected our different stages of the project to our curriculum. Teachers found and tried out innovative methods of a whole in learning. Pupils used and improved basic skills to reach competences in project work.
In order to catch pupil’s interest, we organized the project topic in three-time levels – from the past, through the present to the future and we connected historical facts with practical experiences. The pupils became aware of different types of transportation on ground, in air, on water which developed upon request on changing society and technical improvement over time.
Project activities and motilities enabled our pupils to create understanding, that our countries had and still have different cultural and geographical conditions. They got an overview of different moving possibilities in Europe. They now see the connection between the society and transportation in terms of how development of transportation brings improvement of society and enriches the general knowledge of Europe.
Incorporation of children with handicap brought the proof that even with a disability “You still have chance to explore the world and be a part of Society”.
With this project we have seen examples of change of perception of disabled children by children involved in project. We have seen this at the camps where the handicap pupils join in all the activities.
Final products like the e.g. website, book about inventors, modern transport, the memory and audio quiz game will be used for our teachers resources at each preschool and school.
With the contact between the partners we developed the pupil’s language skills in English, and also in the partner’s language using the project dictionary during the visits from teachers during their lessons.
These increased the teaching competences from our staff. According to the project aims each school built up an Erasmus group to split responsibilities. They gained deeper experiences in project management and organizing school development tasks.
As the project highlights is the 3 short term exchange activities of primary pupils from each partner school in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany for one week each. Their where living, working and learning together, socializing with each other. A special camp program matching to project theme of year with workshop, excursions, school visits became a unique experience of the participating primary pupils and teachers. The evaluation of the camps and the overall project showed a positive response in all countries, confirmed the success of our projects. Students and parents formulated as well as the desire to continue and expand the European work of our schools.
With exhibitions, presentations from project highlights, information in newspapers or special project days we caught partners and more interests from school surrounding and the local area. As same as more parents, companies and stakeholders have been attentive too our Schools and supported our activities.
That’s how we have moved pupils, us, colleagues and our local area. We moved Europe.
