Project Summary

Modern students are always with their cell phones. To turn this disadvantage into an andvantage, we want to direct them to the use of the right technology instead of blocking to use it. A blog and a hashtag will open on Istagram used mostly by the youths. In that way national and foreign students will be able to share advices, comments, or photos about the books.

According to the Book Reading Questionnaire applied in our school on 9th November, 2018, average 8 books are read every year. This means the students don’t even read a book a month. We aim to get the students to read 3 books a month with our project.

Just %38 of the students know the books’ writers and in which country they have been written. Books won’t be read stereotypically thanks to the mobilities and activities to be done for transculturation. And also this proportion will be increased %70.

At least 75 students in each partner school from the countries (Greece, Romania, Turkey) having rich language background will take part in the project and have active roles during local activities. 5 students, 2 teachers, 1 director in each school will join the LTT mobilities and cultural activities.

The project will last 13 months and during first 9 months (September to May), one book from each countries will be read every month. The book lists to be read will be shared among the partner schools via Internet on the first day of the project. The books will be chosen with the agreed decision of the schools’ teachers in each country. (Especially Literature Teachers)

A Book Reading Corner will be done in every partner schools. The students will be able to write the notes on small papers about three books which will be read in that month. Then they will put the notes in the envelopes belonging to the books.

To follow the students’book reading, the teachers in the project management will write a report every month by observing the comments or photos on Instagram and the notes in the Book Reading Corner. And also before the LTT mobilities, “Satisfaction Questionnaire” about the books will be applied for all the students in the project. (About writers, topics of the books, having fun or not while reading, Instagram sharings, etc.)

The project will be implemented with three cultural mobilities; first mobility to Romania in November 2019, second mobility to Greece in February 2020, last mobility to Turkey in April 2020. For 2 days, cultural sightseeings and activities; for 2 or 3 days, book presentations and a competition will be done during each mobility.

In June, as a local activity, each school will give T-shirts to at least 27 volunteer students in the project. They will randomly pick a paper written a book’s name. And they will draw whatever they want about the books they have picked. The best drawing on T-shirt will be chosen. Three T-shirts will be shared on E-twinning to vote. An award will be given to the winner student. With this competition, the students will have chance to show their ideas and feelings about the books.

Till September 2020, whether the students will read keenly or not will be observed with the comments or photos on Instagram. In the last week of September, a last questionnaire will be applied for all the students in each school.

With our “We share our books, we shape our culture” project, our students will be socialized with foreign students, will learn to respect to other countries and other ideas, will use English actively thanks to the book presentations and communication, and also will read more books keenly and in a well-informed way.

Logo Photo Competition and Drawing on T-shirt Competition about 27 books will be done on E-twinning . During the mobilities, partner schools will share the photos of activities on social media. Local meeting will be done to give some information about the project to the teachers, the students, and the parents. The local press will be invited to the meeting to publish the project to the wider community. These kind of activities will provide introduction and dissemination for the project.
