Project Summary

Project WeB media literacy aims to improve media literacy in Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina through cooperation and exchange of experience and knowledge among youth in these countries. Project is focused on strengthening capacities of youth workers and other relevant structures in regard to media literacy and journalism. Main target groups of the project are youth workers and youth organisations, educational institutions and institutions of culture, media with the special focus on youth media.Project represents a combination of capacity building and raising awareness activities. Project is directly strengthening capacities of:-youth workers by providing them the training of trainers of media literacy-journalisms students by providing them training in debunking fake news-young journalists by equipping them with skills for mobile reporting and the use of innovative reporting tools. -schools and teaching staff by providing them with the teaching resourcesAll of these activities are followed by practical activities where participants have the chance to apply the gained knowledge, but also to acquire new skills. Raising awareness campaign is targeting youth, but also wider population within these countries and is consisted of a documentary film production, interactive smartphone game development, educational videos, Viber stickers, etc, but also organization of public events as part of the media literacy bus. Activities are tailored according to the needs and the interest of young people. The project is designed in a way that all of the activities are being implemented in cooperation with local artist and entrepreneurs. Close cooperation with education sector is going to be established and all of the materials developed through the project will be used as part of the teaching process in schools in the countries involved. This projects is providing space for young people to be active citizens and loud advocators of professionalization of the media, importance of critical thinking. The project is giving youth the possibility to raise their voice against populism, fake news, political propaganda and xenophobic messages we are all exposed to recently. This way, young people are taking the active role in the democratization of the society and the dissemination of the European values. Simultaneously, projects directly strengthens capacities of all those whose work is of immense importance for further promotion of media literacy: youth organisations, educational institutions and the media. Finally, all of the activities are contributing to the development and recognition of the non-formal education and intercultural learning. By gathering CSOs and youth from the region, as well as decision makers, this project is contributing to the process of regional reconciliation and putting focus to the joint EU future of the countries based on the values of freedom of speech, solidarity, diversity and human rights.
