Project Summary

Wind of change: The project dealt with the construction of a well lighted bicycle stand. The light was generated by a wind turbine. None of the involved schools owned a lighted and roofed bicycle stand. With this project the students demonstrated that energy solutions with renewable energy can be simple and plain. The participants of the project were students who do their A levels within the next three years. The students attended the Berufskolleg in Geldern and the Stredni prumyslova skola stavebni akademika Stanoslava Bechyne in Havlickuv Brod. The students were 16-21 years old.

We planned 4 visits, 2 visit to each school. Unfortunaltey, we had to cancel the last visit to tschechia because of corona. The results werde presented through Microsoft Teams.

The project had different aims. The first one was that the students realise how importent renewable energy is. They learned about the advantages of renewables and their local benefit. Moreover the students realised that solutions can be very simple. We visited a wind power so they realized the function of wind with producing energy.
In addition to that the participants learnd new digital posibilities, like 3D-Printer.

The second aim was to show the students that cooperations with people from other countries is enriching. They planned afternoon activities with each other so they got to know their culture.
They learned to value knowledge of others and understood this cooperation as a chance for their life.

The third aim demanded the students’ responsibility. They took over responsibility for the project and their fellow students. They organised the project themselves (with the help of the teachers).
The students took part in a project course which is certified by the schools. The project course did not only take place at school but also at different places like Universities, a science park and at a wind power park.

As results we have a bike stand at each location.
