Project Summary

“Within networks, the best and the worst of social networks” was born with the intention of training participants about the responsible use of the Internet and social networks in an international collaborative context. After two years of intense work, exchange of experiences and learning between institutions, coexistence and cultural approach, “Within networks” has become much more. It has been an experience of social inclusion and openness towards Europe, as proposed by the European Union, in terms that range from interculturality to the fight against cyberodium, “fake news” or cyberbullying.

The participating schools (Szkoła podstawowa nr 368 im. “Polskich Olimpijczyków” (Poland), Agrupamento de escolas Viseu Norte (Portugal) e IES Campiña Alta (Spain)) have contributed with different types of experiences, activities and resources that have allowed to achieve the objectives of the project.

Throughout the project, different workshops have been held on the responsible use of the Internet and social networks, with their activities included in a methodological guide accessible from the Erasmus + results platform and its products available on eTwinning. Both teachers and students have also participated in training activities on the same subject directed by different organizations.
Students have participated in three short-term exchanges in Poland, Portugal and Spain. During these exchanges, in addition to participating in workshops on the theme of the project, an important weight was given to cultural content and international coexistence, in order to create stable links between them.

For the coordination of the project, three transnational meetings of teachers were held in Spain, Poland and Portugal, providing a very enriching and collaborative environment where teachers were able to exchange experiences. During these meetings, the main agreements on the key points of the project were reached.

The degree of achievement of the objectives and development of the results has been high, especially among those of an intangible nature. These results include the improvement of skills for teamwork, the improvement of linguistic competence among all participants or the degree of internationalization of the schools and the openness to Europe among students.

The impact of the project on schools has been good. For the IES Campiña Alta, the project has been the first international strategic association. I has started a line of work with multiple benefits for the educational community. For the Agrupamento de Escolas Viseu Norte, the project is a step to consolidate this type of experiences and to give them continuity, creating an experienced work team. The Szkoła podstawowa nr 368 im. “Polskich Olimpijczyków” offers its students a wide range of Erasmus + projects as a strategic element in the school.

Finally, the weight of the project’s topic is so important in our current lives that its sustainability is inevitable. Society requires schools to make from “the responsible use of the Internet” a cross-cutting issue in which to invest time and resources. “Within networks, the best and the worst of social networks” is just one step that will continue with activities in all schools. The project will remain active in eTwinning so that the school can exchange their experiences and resources, in order to make from our students responsible and critical citizens in the networks and on the Internet.
