Project Summary

The aim of the project is to promote gender culture and equal opportunities, through transnational research and learning activities. The theme of the balance between work, private life and equal opportunities has assumed an increasingly evident centrality and this has led us to propose this project called: “W.a.W.- Women and Welfare”. The initiative is an opportunity to develop knowledge and awareness of the importance of gender equality in social, economic and political life, with a specific focus on the contribution of women in the development of local communities. The project foresees the reconstruction of the significant aspects that characterize the context, taking into account the diversity of conditions and the role of women in the European partner countries, and analyzing the quantitative characteristics of female employment and sectors of use. The project aims to stimulate students to develop a range of skills to cope with our complex world in order to promote their personal growth, citizenship skills, preparation for the world of work and, above all, meet the interests of students and active participation. The themes of the project will be explored in the European context, through collaboration and interaction in a multicultural environment, so as to expand the skills of teachers who, thanks to this project, will exchange good educational practices.Number and profile of participants: about 150 students aged 15-19 years
Activity: Activities will start with the analysis of the European context, to highlight the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of female-male employment and employment sectors. The needs of working women will then be surveyed and analyzed through interviews, prepared by the students, with different types of workers in each area. The students will work in groups, on the theme: Women and Well-being in the EU”; if you were part of a technical table, what would your proposals be for the protection of working women?; “The students then, with the support of the teachers, will create an e-book and carry out a final conference. The materials produced will be computerized and disseminated through institutional websites, project website, fb, twitter, e-twinning platform, etc. All joint work activities will enable us to acquire and improve our skills, not only in the topic at the center of the project, but also in terms of teamwork, intercultural learning, social relations, and use of information technology and communication. All activities will be aimed at developing a culture of rights and equality, but also at encouraging a conscious and active presence in civil society, in the perspective that participation in social and political life is not only a right, but the duty of every responsible European citizen. Expected results and potential long-term benefits: broadening knowledge and understanding of European countries, educational policies and practices; triggering changes in terms of school modernization and internationalization; promoting European mobility activities for pupils and school staff, also in the long term; increasing motivation and improving students’ key citizenship competences.
