Project Summary

This exciting project” Wonders of water in nature and science” will highlight how creativity and sharing experiences can change teachers approach for teaching and children’s attitude for learning. 2020/2021 is the Year of Water. In this project we are focused on the Earth’s most precious resource in all of its social, political, cultural, economic, and environmental complexities. This is a cross-curriculum project and involves most pre-primary and primary school subjects like music, art, ICT and technology, science, citizenship, sport and edc. With this project we wanted encourage children to protect environment and water resources. Project involves children with age 3 to 13, teachers, parents, headmasters and other staff in four very different countries – Iceland, Croatia, Denmark and Estonia. The participants are two primary school, one primary and secondary school and one kindergarten. It is important to teach children all the facts about water because future is in their hands. We as teachers need to change their point of view and help Earth and Earth’s ecosystems to regenerate.

The main goal of this project is aware and expand all participants knowledge about environment, natural sciences, health and well being.
For the teachers involved in the project, this is a means to broaden their horizons and to learn new approaches to teaching that may be very different from the partners schools. Through this project we stimulate our teachers to do more outdoor learning, to do more practical experiments by using surrounding nature and children’s curiosity. Changing teachers teaching approach more child- centered by using water and surrounding nature we will give our students more self-confidence, responsibility, the courage to explore, to ask, to test and maybe to fail and start all over. As a result of the project teachers are active in different ICTs (Skype, drive, etc.), can simplify photo and film editing (cartoon) by using robotics and smart devices and integrate them into different subject areas. All participants will know that learning can take place everywhere not only in classroom.
The students are involved in all project phases: activity planning, participation, communication, dissemination and evaluation. The children will be equipped with the knowledge of how to keep our common environment and nature and their own future role of it. Children’s involvement in this project will teach them to independently ask questions, inquire, to think about, compare and find the answers to the problems. Children will be encouraged to communicate, they will learn to find friends and establish relationships in new situations and countries. This project involves cooperation between children aged 3 to 13, so children will be able to experience what it could be like to make the transition between different stages of their education.
The children’s self-confidence and self-awareness and digital competency will also be strengthened during the project.
The schools will benefit from having pupils who demonstrate the admirable values addressed by this project.
Parents in each school will be informed regularly about the project and will be encouraged to support the school and their children throughout.

At the beginning of the project there will be a logo competition and choosing the winner. Each school create a project notice board and make a small presentation about natural beauties of their country. During the two years we will do outdoor activities and do presentation of it for partners. All schools explore about water in fruits and vegetables and arrange experiments. There will be multiple tangible results of this projects – digital calendar, picture dictionary, digital manual for little scientist and the cartoon. The common information room will be Twinspace, fb group, Zoom and Skype.

Participation in the project have a positive impact on each organization’s reputation and visibility in the local community, as it will show that each school is progressive, creative and child-centered in their approach to a varied education. This project will be an educational experience for all participants’ institutions, giving vast experience of project planning in an international team.
