Project Summary

WOW for Youth! is a project where informal learning, and peer-to-peer learning, empowers young individuals to engage in social and democratic processes that enhance their self-esteem and hence employability. It builds on the methodology of peer learning about topics that the young target group may not be particularly excited about learning: labour regulations on national and EU level, rights and duties on the labour market, the need of tackling unemployment as well as NEETs and the young peoples own responsibility in the process.

The needs to be addressed involve increased level of key competencies and skills of:

– young people who are voluntarily active in youth work,

– youth workers,

– young people who are out of work and/or unskilled.

The objectives we work towards are:

– promotion of participation in democratic life and the labour market in particular,

– increased sense of social inclusion and solidarity,

– empowerment of the individuals and the group as a whole towards enhanced employability and youth work,

– promotion of mobility and cooperation between youth from Programme and Partner countries,

– raising the awareness of the EU Citizenship though peer-to-peer learning and finally

– improvement of the capacities of involved organisations.

The latter is a highly prioritized objective with focus on informal training in leadership and influence of youth organizations on youth policy, labour marked and national and European stakeholders (i.e. the activity “Opinion Leader Training”).

The proposed activities will include exchange of experiences and innovative approaches to learning about the national and European labour markets, as they will foster active citizenship and actively use YouthPass to document the competencies acquired through these activities.
