Project Summary

The Erasmus + KA229 project entitled “Common Europe-common values” is being implemented by the Public Primary School No. 34 in Radom, Poland (coordinator of the project); OOU Petar Pop Arsov from Skopje, Macedonia; 149th Secondary School Ivan Hadjiiski from Sofia, Bulgaria; FEDAC Sant Andreu from Barcelona, Spain and Schulsprengel Olang from South Tyrol, Italy. The dates are 01.10.2019-30.09.2021. It is addressed to students of partner schools aged 12-15.
Main aim:
Development of the ‘MORAL COMPASS’ – a set of rules concerning social life by and for students of 12 to 15 years old from partner schools during the project.
Detailed aims (all concern students aged 12-15 from partner school during the project):
-inclusion of at least 30 students aged 12-15 years old with specific educational and social needs.
-strengthening attitudes of openness and tolerance towards differences.
-increasing communication skills and purposeful cooperation (cooperation patterns: student-student, student-teacher).
-increasing the ability to recognize real authorities, role models and to distinguish between good and bad patterns of behaviour.
-development and implementation of a set of valuable ways of spending free time, focused on relationships with others.
-increasing the competence of critical thinking, decision making and implementation of creative problem solving patterns.
-creating ‘MORAL COMPASS’ – a set of common principles of social life by and for students.
-increasing practical communication skills in English.
-increasing digital competences.
The project actions will revolve around 6 areas. Each area is the subject of one visit to the partner school and activities before and after it. The areas have got guiding slogans entitled: ‘I think, therefore I am’, ‘Me and others’, “Idols and authorities’, ‘Fair play’, ‘What a wonderful world!’ and ‘In a healthy body, healthy mind’.
Each area contains a description of detailed activities leading to the implementation of the project’s aims. Activities take place locally in partner schools, online – with the help of a specially designed eTwinning project and during visits at partner schools. Particularly important, due to the social themes of the project, are personal contacts of participants during visits.
The project is in line with horizontal priorities of the European Commission: social inclusion (pupils with special needs will be involved in the project), key competences (social skills, communication in a foreign language and the use of ICT) and cultivation of common European heritage. There is also one structural priority – supporting wholistic teaching language skills.
Expected results:
-increase of social, linguistic and digital competences of students aged 12-15 from partner schools
-real social inclusion and involvement of students with difficulties
-creation and implementation of ‘MORAL COMPASS’ – a set of principles of good social coexistence – developed by students for students
-a set of creative time spending ideas focused on relationships with others
-lesson plans
-a collection of working methods promoting meaningful collaboration
-a set of educational apps for further use in the classroom.
Expected long-term benefits:
Schools increase their potential for international cooperation. They expand educational offer with interesting forms of implementation of the core curriculum. Schools modify behavioural/formative work plans and the subject content taught by the elaborated elements. The level of social inclusion of students with difficulties increases. Teachers gain new materials for work, proven lesson plans for teaching key competences and new teaching methods, list of apps – that shall improve the quality of education – to be used by teachers at all schools. The quality of foreign language teaching and ICT use increases thanks to the possibility of authentic communication and use of technology in a creative way. The increase in students’ social competences – sustained by subsequent activities after the end of the project – helps to shape responsible, critical-minded and sensitive young people. Schools increase their prestige in local environments. They promote the idea of cooperation among similar institutions and inspire them. Reference materials remain in the resources of schools for further use (set of ideas for spending free time, descriptive list of idols and authorities, moral code, themed lesson plans, list of educational apps, instructive films). Network of international contacts is created to enable further forms of cooperation.
