Project Summary
The project deals with the topic of extremism and migration which does not originate in one country and it is not solely the single-country problem but it is vastly international.The aim is to overcome prejudices, understand the past, presence and future of migration, getting rid of myths and intolerance, tackle extremistic ideas, performance, how to avoid them and strengthen the democratic ideas of EU in order to build up critical thinking of students.
The project will deal with the following issues:
-Migration in the present and the past
-Migration and the partner country : 5 migration waves – before WWI, after WWII, after 1968 ( or the partner country will have other important waves in their history) , after 1989 ( excommunist countries), after joining EU
-Analysis: the reasons for migration in the partner countries
-Foreign migration and integration of foreigners into the life of the partner country
-The attitudes of inhabitants to the migrations, minorities and foreigners/immigrants in order to fight extremistic ideas, performance
By the project the following skills that are necessary to achieve will be strenghten such as a democratic culture such as autonomous learning, analytical and critical thinking, listening and observing, empathy, flexibility and adaptability, linguistic, communicative and plurilingual skills, co-operation, and conflict-resolution. Through these skills, our project will highlight the benefits of active citizenship and demonstrates that teachers can contribute to the creation of sustainable democracies by tackling the extremistic views,behaviour, attitudes.
By educating youth generations in order to develop and sustain their critical thinking, through searching in the history of neighbours, family relatives, survivors of historical events – holocaust, migration waves we will abolish extremistic views and broaden the perspectives of the youth generations.
The project outcome the website with the mobile app related to it will be the bedrock to build up the network of schools, institutions dealing with the problem of extremstic behaviour in order to sustainably work on the topic with the ongoing democratic principles sustain and fortify as well.
