Project Summary
“Yes,We KENya!” contributes to foster cooperation between Europe and Kenya and to promote activities aiming to enhance the quality and recognition of youth work while improving participants’ level of competences, to favour their active participation in the society and to provide a response to social challenges. It aims to create a pool of trainers/multipliers able to act as promoters of Non-Formal Education, active citizenship and European democratic values in different contexts. Considering young people as strategic players in the future of society, the purpose of “Yes,WeKENya!” is creating a sustainable cooperation between Africa and Europe in the youth field through activities that will train kenyan, italian and spanish young people. It will also give the chance to young trainers previously trained by AICEM to challenge themselves, multiplying the work previously done and put into practice what learned in “Nio Far-We Are Together”, a project developed by AICEM in 2018 in a welcoming centre in Sardinia and in the area of Casamance (Senegal), of which “Yes, We KENya” represents the follow up. So partner organizations by identifying common needs behind the differences related to their own contexts and related trigger factors, have individuated the necessity to implement a project that could allow young people to be empowered through the acquisition of competences and tools in order to develop effective actions aiming at the promotion NFE tool within their communities. It will facilitate active participation of youth in policy making, raising their awareness about non-formal education as an important tool to fight lack of youth initiative and to provide participative processes. The creation of a pool of trainers, the availability of open sources materials, the network constructed and the creation of a toolkit will make the results durable and sustainable.
