Project Summary
The project’s main aim is to consider solidarity not only as something you give but also as a true commitment as is assumed in its acronym: the united JEDI.
We will start with a work on the self which will allow them to gain self confidence and will facilitate the exchange. Then, we will all turn to our counterparts so as to spot and work on the prejudices and/or stereotypes, because it is by taking an interest in our neighbours that we will get to know them. Our participants’ age will range between 14 and 17, we will assist them in building their identities as citizens of tomorrow. To do so, we will highlight respect, tolerance and listening capacities in the various actions we will run. This project will contribute to open the participants ‘minds and make them fully aware of the essential aspect of their action. Indeed, the project’s aim is to open them up to the world: this is why we plan to have them lead actions in their own highschool and to guide them outside of the highschool by offering them to support an NGO and encouraging them to share with younger students. We will end the project by opening a European perspective, that is taking part in a European action: the European Volontary Service.
Each action will contribute to their computer skills, social skills, as they will need to adapt their attitude to every situation for example. It will also contribute to their team work skills and language skills so as to communicate more easily. Lastly, it aims to involve them in a more global way in building the Europe of tomorrow: working towards European solidarity will help to meet the challenges (such as helping refugees) by adopting a constructive approach.
Solidarity is a notion that implies new challenges but also fears and incertainty. Through this pluridisciplinary project, we will enlarge their vision of solidarity thanks to a better understanding and thus develop their feeling of belonging as Europeans.
