Project Summary

The project “A young explorer among the friends of European nature” was implemented at Primary School No. 16 in Gdansk from September 1, 2017  until August 31, 2019 in cooperation with partners from public schools in Gava (Spain) and Heraklion (Greece). The schools operated in the same thematic area and supported each other. 60 students raised their key competences in the field of natural sciences, English and social competences. International cooperation activities were implemented consisting in the exchange of good practices and knowledge during classes for students and improvement of skills and competences of 30 teachers.
Project participants familiarized themselves with areas of special cognitive, natural and educational value; demonstrated creativity in collecting, processing and presenting their “Nature of Europe”.
As a result of the project activities, a common image of the young explorer among the European nature of nature was created containing pupils’ works presenting discovered and creatively interpreted areas. The message; “Save it for future generations” sounded strongly and noticeably and was noticed by local communities. The project enriched the workshop of teachers of nature and English and its innovativeness aroused curiosity in students to learn about the surrounding world; shaped attitudes of activity, improved language and iterpersonal communication.
Taking part in the project allowed to get in touch with skills in the field of nature teaching, strengthening social competences and solving communication problems in shape of polisensory forms of ecological attitudes, empathy, respect, tolerance and respect for and acceptance of cultural diversity. Project activities characterized by counteracting stereotyping, hate speech; created a sense of citizenship applied to students and educational staff of Poland, Spain and Greece. Close cooperation affects the high quality of professional products. Implementation of the project ensuring an increase in the level of knowledge and management in the use of English. It translated into a total increase in the quality and effectiveness of education in Primary School No. 16 in Gdansk (Poland), Primary School in Gava (Spain) and Primary School in Heraklion (Spain). Participation in the project contributed to being full European hosts, while transnational cooperation ensures more efficient functioning of schools open to nature in a user European environment.
