Project Summary

The main aim of the project is to promote creativity, entrepreneurship and new competences of the youngsters through the implementation of the “New Guides” training program for Jurmala, Terracina and Cabourg youngsters, which will provide them with excursion management skills.
The purpose of the project “Young Guides” (hereinafter – the project) is in line with the priorities of the Erasmus + programme – to promote the development of up-to-date and high-level skills and abilities and to promote the quality of youth work. The project has brought together three organizations: Jurmala City Council, Terracina City Council and the Comité Jumelage de Cabourg.
The project will involve young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are interested in the guide’s profession, and who have a desire to acquire the knowledge and skills that would be useful in the future when looking for a work. Youngsters will be motivated and advised by lecturers, mentors, workshop managers during the project who will help to master the practical side of the guide’s profession through non-formal education methods.
Within the framework of the project, three training seminars will be organized. In the first training seminar C1 “Communication and Presentation Skills”, it will be possible for youngsters to learn about the specifics of the tourist guide’s work. In the second phase of training C2 or “Tourism Route Development” participants will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the development and management of a tourism route. In the training C3 or “Developed Route Testing”, young people will acquire skills in managing their route.
Each of the project partners has an important role in the implementation of the project, as the international team of the project enables young people and all other players (mentors, youth workers, youth leaders) to supplement their knowledge and demonstrate skills not only at the local level but also internationally, which is often important in a tourism related profession.
The project idea, as well as training lecturers and training content are proposed by young people and selected to provide young people with a compelling and up-to-date training course. Youngsters will also be involved in the project implementation, completion and distribution of the project results stage, giving youngsters the opportunity to make their own decisions and fostering cooperation with local authorities.
