Project Summary

Since the global economical crisis of 2008, EU struggled to fight youth unemployment through a large variety of initiatives and programmes. This fight is going to be even bigger after the so called “migrant crisis”, thanks to which in December 2015 the total number of asylum applications in EU was around 2 millions. Most of them are young unemployed people with fewer opportunities: with low educational levels, often unaccompanied or at risk of violence. And additionally to this also youngsters who live in depressed rural areas with a hard access to information and public resources addressed to their personal growing (youth centers, street work projects, social mediators, even worse access to their first job because of the lack of opportunities in their close environment). All EU partners of the Consortium directly experienced those 2 crisis, since they are working with young people with fewer opportunities. Young unaccompanied minors, young refugees, young migrants, young girls who experienced violence, young people coming from rural and isolated areas, young people coming from poor economical background, young people who experienced violence and abuses within their families. All non-EU partners are working with the same categories of young people, in situations that may vary in terms of socio-economical aspects, but has the same result: unemployment and social exclusion. All partners of the Consortium agree that the lack of transferable competencies and transversal skills among these young people is a big concern. Young people, especially the ones that are long-term unemployed or without higher education, need such kind of competences in order to adapt themselves to different labour market environments and to help them increase the chances in finding a job, but also to create their own job. This is why Younic intends to give the chance to 6 different organizations with long-term experience in working with Young People With Fewer Opportunities (YPWFO) in order to transfer between the partners the how-know to work with YPWFO trough entrepreneurial initiatives, and at the same time to develop local groups of YPWFO aimed at developing initiatives for their peers. The project will provide those young people with short term and long term educational mobility projects, as valuable tool to boost youth employment and to facilitate social inclusion. The project will work on 3 different levels: organizations, youth workers /mediators young people.
