Project Summary
Title of the realised project „Youth and Economy”
Assumptions
Pedagogical research proved that students lack the skill of applying the theory in practice, lack the ability of independent reasoning and searching for alternative solutions, the skill of making plans of action strategy, of analysis of the system functioning and drawing conclusions. What is essential to gain those skills is the basic economic knowledge. At the same time the European Commission emphasizes the fact that every European should speak at least two foreign languages since it is significant for education, culture and social life, not to mention employment prospects. What is also pivotal is supporting and enhancing digital competences level at all stages of teaching and training. The changing reality and labour market, based on competition, make it necessary to prepare students for the continual adaptation to the situation on the labour market.
Aims
The project aims at the mutual exchange of experiences and the cooperation in the range of :
• Establishing students’ cooperation, leading to strengthening positive relations among the local communities, self-governments and higher-education centres;
• Supporting the development of students’ key competences together with promoting a comprehensive approach towards teaching and learning foreign languages, understanding and producing information, mathematical reasoning and ICT skills;
The aim of the project is also to provide students with conditions for developing skills as follows:
• Extending the knowledge concerning functioning of economy
• Acquiring basic competences of entrepreneurship
• Team work
• Communicating in foreign languages
• Skillfully making use of modern information and communication technologies (ICT)
• Searching, selecting and critically analyzing the obtained information
• Applying various forms of verbal and non-verbal communication
• Making decisions and assessing their consequences, both positive and negative ones
• Analyzing the labour market with reference to their own competences and professional plans
• Choosing the line of further education and their own career path
Number and age of participants
The participants of the project will be students involved in the project directly (40 students from St.Johannis’ school in Brema, Mongazon in Angers and ZSO4 in Torun at the age of 14-18) and indirectly (about 1,000 students from St.Johannis’ school and about 1,000 students from Mongazon and 500 students from ZSO4 at the same age).
Forms of realization
• Short-term visits in partner schools
• Courses and workshops developing linguistic and personal skills facilitating access to the job market , enabling to obtain authentication of Youthpass – a language passport and Youthpass – mobility
• The leading idea of the project is teaching through action
• The most essential work method is education based on the search and analysis of information
• A significant part of the project will be realized using information and communication technologies ( ICT )
• An integral part of the project will be the process of producing and presenting prepared by students projects
• Ultimately, participants of the project will have an opportunity to compare economic processes and situations, professional and economic lives in the country and abroad
• International economic conference for secondary school students
• Realization of the established aims will be supported by representatives of science and economic life
Planned operations
• Teachers’ and students’ visits in partner schools
• Obtaining acknowledged and authenticated linguistic skills ( English/French/German )youthpass – a language passport
• Conducting training courses giving the acknowledged and authenticated selected personal skills facilitating access to job market Youthpass – mobility
• Meetings with founders of local START-UP firms – getting familiar with ways of searching for business model Youthpass – mobility
• Preparation of recommendation referring to searching or changing work, mobility on the EU labour market
• Preparation of recommendation referring to establishing and starting independent business activity on the local and EU markets
• Gathering, by students, information concerning the activity of selected firms in their regions in the following range:
1. Corporate Social Responsibility
2. Policy of employment of expected skills, qualifications and personal features
3. Ways of competing with other businesses
• Presenting the obtained information by means of ICT technologies to partner schools’ students and partner countries’ communities
• Organizing for secondary school students an international economic conference on “Idea of entrepreneurship – yesterday and today. “
