Project Summary
PROJECT BACKGROUND
While there are countries with relatively low youth unempoyment rates, for example Germany, Denmark, there are other countries with very high rates of unemployment among young people, such as Spain, Poland, Hungary – according to the report on Umemployment statistics of Eurostat April 2015.
Young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly affected by the risk of unemployment. They are the target group that most urgently need skills, competences and guidance for the competitive labour market.
However in the previous 1-2 years the unemployment rates in Hungary among the young people reduced, there are still now big problems in the employment.
While many young people search in vain for employment or apprenticeship positions, existing vacancies are often not filled because employers complain they cannot find suitable young candidates. Among the reasons for this gap are lacking basic knowledge about the way enterprises function and an unsatisfactory level of key competences and soft skills.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
YOUTH CAMP addresses this problem by developing an unique training programme leading to internationally recognized certification EBC*L (European Business Competence*Licence). It targets young disadvantaged jobseekers.
The YOUTH CAMP training concept combines basic economic knowledge with social and personal skills needed for being successful the labour market.
In particular, the following key competences of the European Commission’s key competence framework are addressed:
– 1. Communication in the mother tongue
– 2. Digital competence
– 3. Learning to learn
– 4. Social and civic competences
– 5. Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship

The training package includes
– a curriculum of defined learning objectives covering economic thinking, planning and acting as well as personal and social competence
– a set of attractive and motivating face-to-face and online learning materials – Training KIT
– a manual fo trainers and youth workers how to effectively uses these materials – Trainer’s Manual
The Entrepreneurial youth camp was organised in Zamárdi, The curriculum takes 50 teaching hours – plus self-organized work (depending on the level of entry skills)-, which could be fully piloted during the 5-day camp.
IMPACT
The YOUTH CAMP training program enables young people to get an understanding of own to be a successful player on the labor market by learning about the rules every market follows; to analyze and assess what it means to take „risks” and to help them see the „costs” of not taking any risks in life; get a basic knowledge of how companies work and what HR managers are looking for when they recruit staff;
