Project Summary

Our project between four basketball clubs in Spain, England, Sweden and Bulgaria, aims to achieve a program of basketball activities on integration and inclusion of young people of compulsory school age, coordinated by specialists, which is applicable to schools around each club .
Our sports clubs have a basketball section for functional diversity that wants to be expanded, have visibility and be standardised and for this, clinics and training talks for teachers and teachers, monitors and coaches who work with these young people, and sessions of play and training in school hours for students of these centres, with some of the best coaches and players in Europe and some NBA legend.
We are concerned of the current situation and our project tries to organise activities both in person when possible and through ITs: videos, tutorials, videoconferences for children, disabled and no disabled, coaches, monitors and teachers, in order to improve their possibilities. Also, a training plan in case of lockdown and healthy and safety instructions against the virus with videos and a manual to be a guideline for supervisors and families.
This action will reach at least 30 schools a year in England, Spain and Sweden and thousands of children: 60 schools per country, 180 schools in total at the end of the project, 540 school sessions and an estimation of 16400 students. Bulgaria, through their Special Olympics are the perfect partner to lead our clubs about how to perform and interact with functional diversity young players and obtain the best results.
The objective is to expand the section of each partner, increase the number of satellite centres that serve these boys and girls and offer the organisation of events, tournaments and basketball campuses where they can participate in a natural way just like other teams of players and players without disabilities.
Finally, this standardisation and visibility that is intended to be achieved, and after these various activities and meetings between clubs, will facilitate the possibility of mobility of a four month period in another participating country (2 members per partner), under the coordination and supervision of the educational center of origin and common work among the basketball clubs that serve as the central axis. That is, to conclude with a complete basketball program that is oriented towards an effective inclusion of any person with functional diversity.
