Project Summary

The participants of this project consist of five school groups from Sweden, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Italy. All schools are public organizations of the secondary educational level of each country.
The main topic of the project is focused on the revival of a specific tradition (weaving, embroidery, traditional fishing- boat carpentry, chip carving and ceramic) very characteristic for the country and the area that chose to develop it via this Erasmus+ project. It is a very important piece of tradition that worths to survive and be disseminated between the partners of the project and all the people involved in it.
The original motivation for the project came from the PDW (Professional Development Workshop) “Empowering Students with eTwinning” that took place in Funchal, Madeira, on October 2019. The project is based in three main targets: a) creativity and interactivity; b) internationalization; c) sustainability in European community. Consequently, we aim to achieve the following objectives and concrete results, which are common goals by all five partners:
Objectives:
A1: to engage the students in preserving regional and ancient crafts;
A2: to get acquainted with sustainable techniques for producing/using materials and to be actively engaged in using them;
A3: to give opportunity for students and teachers to interact in a cultural diversity and to exchange good practices with european partners;
A4: to raise awareness of the students on the importance of cultural heritage and UNESCO’s patrimony;
A5: to develop communicative skills (with the use of a foreign language), critical thinking and creativity;
A6: to contribute to the school internationalization of the organizations.
Concrete Results:
A7: Exhibitions on the crafts addressed by each partner and of the responsibility of each partner organization.
A8: Videos of the workshops prepared before or during the mobilities, the we will use as tools for dissemination and for learning purposes in the future. We hope these videos may serve other institutions and even serve as tutorials for learning the craft being presented.
A9: E-book of the traditional crafts explored by each organization. At the end of the project we aim to have an e-book that can be a reference for disseminating, for learning and for teaching the different crafts addressed by the project.
A10: A10: a website that will include all material of the project (text, pictures, interviews, descriptions etc.)
A11: the evaluation reports of the participants (students and teachers) that will act as a feedback of the project’s results in total.
The results A8, A9, A10, A11 will be linked to the Erasmus+ Projects Result Platform.
All activities have been planned collaboratively, and each partner has already done an initial research on the crafts each will be developing during the project’s timeline. All crafts chosen are highly associated by the cultural tradition of each country, and a vivid part of cultural heritage. Additionally, the traditional craft of Cyprus (Lefkaritiko) was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, by UNESCO. The activities prepared for all LTTAs will show the importance of preserving this patrimony as well as others that UNESCO has considered to be relevant to mankind.
An eTwinning project with the same title has already been created, as a first step of our motivation. All partners agreed that despite the outcome of this application, the eTwinning project will continue with many activities and a further goal for a European Quality Label and participation in European prizes.
The main target groups of dissemination are: our school community, the educational community of the area, the community of the local area and the European school community.The activities to be carried out, and which are scheduled and detailed in the activities section, will be inserted in the official curriculum areas, worked on a more advanced collaborative scheme, so that the development of Erasmus + project itself will promote creativity, civic and cultural engagement in its participants. For most of the partner organizations, there is also a plan to arrange meetings with the associations of the areas and focus on their interest in alternative ways of employment and professional development. This is of high importance, as every school will have a fundamental role in the social status of its region by presenting alternative ways of occupation for the young people, especially the ones belonging to sensitive social groups.
