Project Summary
Context/Background of Project
Recent scientific research in early childhood development indicates that 0-6 age is the most critical period in the child’s development. Early childhood is the period in which learning is most intense, cultural norms develop and basic habits are acquired. In early childhood. quality education is possible only by integrating contemporary approaches. Effective expressions in early childhood education in the world: Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf Pedagogy and STEAM point of view and education applications through BIT. (Tuncer, 2015)
In our schools, the goal of implementing innovative approaches in education has not been achieved in our strategic plans in order to ensure the multi-faceted development of children with our teachers. According to the results obtained in our evaluation surveys, in order to increase our current rate, globally accepted approaches in early childhood education should be integrated into our education system. We need to experience Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf approach, STE (A) M and BIT applications with the competencies of our partners in order to find solutions to the problems we encounter in our schools.
The common goals of our project are as follows:
1. To increase the professional development of the participant teachers on the Effective and Innovative Approach in Early Childhood Education.
2. Integrating Effective and Innovative Approach Practices in Early Childhood into the Pre-School Education Program
3. To raise the quality of education in our schools and to create an innovation strategy.
4. To develop cooperation between our schools and international educational institutions
Number of Participants and Profile:
Three teachers working in our coordinator schools and partner schools.. Turkey Joint our Reggio Emilia Approach, Italy Montessori Approach, STEAM, Lithuania, Portugal Waldorf Approach, Romania has the ICT skills and digital competences in the field. With this project, the schools that are in need of contemporary approach practices will share knowledge, skills and experience from the competent schools.
Methodology:
Each partner will share its competence with other partners. In this way, the goals of our project will be achieved. Participants were selected in a fair, transparent, documentary manner with measurable criteria. Joint schools will be concluded with the participants and the distribution of tasks will be concretized. The project will be coordinated without any problems by providing communication and cooperation. Dissemination efforts will continue in the project process, project results will be announced and sustainability will be ensured at the end of the project.
Teachers will develop their knowledge, skills and experience in Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, STEAM, BIT and integrate effective and innovative approaches in early childhood into their own programs. Our education methods and techniques will be diversified, and by transferring the knowledge, skills and experiences they have gained to students, their negative relationship with the problem solving skills, creativity, competence levels and other skill areas will be minimized, and multi-dimensional development will be provided in children. Project activities will be comprehensive, covering not only teachers but also preschool students, child development students, other teachers and families. At the same time, teachers will increase their foreign language proficiency. Parents organized competitions, workshops, exhibitions, etc. they will attend events. Project partner schools will be one step forward on the way to internationalization.
There are 6 partners from 5 different countries in the project. We will have 5 LTT events where we share our practices, share their practices with other partners, develop teacher competencies, create lesson plans, and share best practices from each partner’s contemporary approach. In addition, this wide geographical area will enable us to exchange different cultures and views.
Apart from the gains of our teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders, there will be lesson plans and web page as an open learning source, a handbook of application of innovative approaches, a research report. We expect at least 20 thousand people to benefit from our activities.
In the short and long term, it will be ensured that individuals who learn by living and doing with our project, who are creative, can solve problems, interpret the values and understandings of themselves and other cultures and can use all these features for humanity will be raised. Pre-school education will be expanded.
