Project Summary
The Strategic Partnership the Editha Gymnasium is aiming for is well fitting into its school program. With the confirmation of the ERASMUS+Learning Mobility for single persons we walked our first steps on the European stage which we have been dreaming since the opening of the Editha Gymnasium in August 2015. Still our Gymnasium has not been completed yet – grade 10 is the highest form at the moment and the first students will pass matura in 2021 – but probably because of that we are trying hard to develop our school in and for an international surrounding. In our first project in 2018/2019 our expectations concerning international partnership or cooperation have been exceeded by far. That’s why we are here to successfully apply for a Strategic Partnership. The target we are heading for is to optimize students’ ambitions for a prosperous life based on an interesting career. It’s one of our main items we have been working on, and now with a partner. Our Danish partner agrees with our points, and as far as we have learnt there is a basis at both of the schools worth working on to achieve best results.
What we would like to achieve is first – that teachers taking part in the activities get to know the partner’s educational work. So, they can create ideas on what they connect to modern education and global world of employment. They are meant to be taught in different subjects in forms 7-9. Second – Students taking part are to reflect their experiences concerning modern education and global world of employment in attractive product for all students. And third – a permanent partnership and cooperation between our schools shall result in success and shall be a sign of respect and friendship.
In the students’ mobility 10 students and two teachers each are chosen to travel to the partner country. Students apply to take part in the project. They are chosen with the help of a catalogue with criteria worked out by the head of school and person responsible for the project. Teachers taking part are mainly chosen by their subjects that may produce the biggest impact on “How to prepare for a successful career?”.
During the project the teachers will take part in two short-term qualifications to get an insight into their partner’s work. There will be meetings to discuss different approaches, job shadowing will be another way to initiate ideas for how to realize “modern education and the global world of employment” in different subjects. Meetings in various teams might round off the working process.
Students taking part will integrate into their hosts’ families as well as in their partner’s school routine. Problems are not supposed to occur. It is their task to communicate not only when they meet personally in the 4 students’ exchanges but the more when they work at different places. it is here where they have to show a high standard of responsibility for the product they plan to deliver at the end of the project. There is a big challenge because students and teachers change. The advantage lies in a broader “public” to reflect experience and to create ideas. The challenge is to compile all information for a satisfying result at the end.
We do not think that the number of student mobilities is too high. We are aware of not disturbing the processes run at the schools.
There are different ways of work. Students as well as teachers are going to work either in teams or on their own. It depends on the kind of job they are going to complete. Meetings will support the processes. Job shadowing allows to “steal with eyes and be all ears”. Teaching will prove the teachers right with their ideas of how to communicate modern education and global world of employment. Failing does not mean giving up, failing means that there are still more ways to walk to find suitable solutions.
After the project we want to present ideas ready for the work in different subjects for forms 7-9 concerning the challenges of modern education and the global world of employment. The result we would like to see from the students should be a kind of “manual” no matter what form it is but it should reflect their responsibility for their future and should offer a kind of “navigator” into a successful future. The material then is meant to be available for all students. There is the idea to complete the “Editha-Planer” a file which contains necessary information for all grades.
There is a benefit for student generations to come: there are new 5th grades or 7th grades in our schools. They all face similar problems like generations of students before. Questions of modern education and the global world of employment remain. Changing requirements need modifications. That is clear. But with the help of the Strategic Partnership we will have laid the foundation.
