Project Summary
The undertaken project MAYDAI was targeted to solve two main problems: The disinterest of young people towards active participation in the life of a local community and activities of youth organizations and worries and fear of young people to take responsibility for themselves.
The goals of the project, which were pursued in project realization are: To identify the needs and motivational factors of contemporary young people regarding the interest in the community. To develop a profile of competence of an engaged young person. To create and implement an educational module dedicated to youth workers and youth leaders about the improvement of the interest of young people. To create space for the presentation of innovative approaches and methods in the field of motivating young people.
The main target group, which was involved in the project were youth workers, youth leaders, and organizations where they operate. The secondary target group were young people cared for by the main group. A total of 1,234 people from the target groups were directly involved in the project.
Activities of the project were targeted to create three intellectual outputs:
1/ Report about the needs and motivational factors of young people, which was an output created from an online survey and focus meetings. An innovative aspect of the report was the connection and comparison of different opinions and attitudes focused on the needs, motivational factors of young people with the opinions and attitudes of youth workers and youth leaders.
2/ Another output of the project is the competence profile of an engaged young person. The activity while profile creating was focused on competencies needed for three basic positions of working with young people: instructor, leader, and main leader.
3/ Educational module – the motivation of young people, whose methodology develops knowledge, abilities, and skills of youth workers and youth leaders in the field of young people motivation to voluntary work and the activation of youth in various sectors of society.
Other activities included two multiplier events in the form of conferences focused on improving the visibility of the intellectual outputs (1x offline, 1x online) and two educational events focused on testing the created module.
The impacts of the implemented project include the increase of preparedness and expertise of youth workers and youth leaders of different groups in addressing young people and their motivation in their engagement. Creating ways for their personal competence development.
The quality of professional approach of youth workers and youth leaders impacted a group of young people to increase their interest in the community they live in and their willingness to take responsibility. It manifested itself in their increased participation and engagement in systematic community action, activities in youth organizations and nonformal groups. This engagement strengthened and made the acceptance of the necessity of involving young people in community life, more visible.
Another impact of the project regarding the participants of the multiplier events was the broadening of their views on the issue of interest or disinterest, the responsible or irresponsible approach of young people to engagement, and their motivation to engage. Knowledge of the ways to prevent fear and worries of young people of them taking responsibility for themselves.
Impact for the organizations involved: RMŽK and RADAMOK, was the increase of their professionalism in the project theme, their expertise. The project positively strengthened their position towards member organizations. The project also increased the level of their cooperation with other subjects and increased their know-how in the field of motivating and engagement of young people.
The impact of the project after the realization of its activities for the local, regional, or national level is a better-quality approach of youth workers and youth leaders in motivating young people as well as their increased interest in engagement in society, which manifested even in the COVID-19 pandemic.
All the mentioned impacts can be used at an European level through documented intellectual outputs in English.
