Project Summary

Background

The project being applied for is based on the well working long-term sister school relationship. Cooperation and friendship between Kisújszállás and Wilamowice has existed since joining the European Union on the basis of local governments, educational institutions and towns organisations. Since the beginning of the cooperation among four secondary schools (Kisújszállás, Wilamowice, Dankowice and Pisarzowice) in 2007 fourteen short term students exchanges have been made with almost 1000 students visiting each partner’s school. At the beginning the aim of the mobilities was to get to know each other and to enjoy the stay, but thanks to the E+ Project we took part in in 2016 our partnership has reached a higher level with the carrying out of the Students Enterprise Programme While Learning from Each Other being the main objective. Within the last two years due to the changes in the Polish educational system two more elementary schools from Hecznarowice and Stara Wies have joined the partnership.

Objectives.

The Project’s main point is to create the environmental awareness, to acknowledge the great responsibility of the future condition of our environment. Let the students of our schools be aware of the waste of fossil fuel and mineral resources and the threats it causes. Let them learn about the necessaty of the environmental protection and sustainability as well as the importance of waste reduction in their everyday life.

Concerning the objective we are planning to perform numerous activities:

– Earth Day celebrations
– Learning the importance of waste recycling
– Using waste to make different things
– Cleaning events, litter collection organisation
– Getting knowledge about organisations which deal with the alternative energy resources.
– The partner schools will show the environmental condition of their neighbourhoods sharing the experience in environmental protection and will organise competitions on the matter.

The students often use their computers preparing presentations (using the English language as well). We consider English as a language of mutual understanding and communication. Beyond the professional content this cooperation will help the two nations to become even closer and to better understand each other.

The participants

The number of students taking part in each mobility is 25 so it makes 100 people in all the Project’s 4 mobilities. However if we take into account all of the activities it will be the whole classes involved and sometimes even schools (e.g. garbage collecting). The number of teachers involved in the project is 4-6 per school. The science techers’ task is to provide the students with the necessary professional knowledge. The English teachers help translate professional parts as well as the students communication. The IT colleagues will also provide help with presentations and use of ICT devices.

Implementation

At the preparatory stage the teachers will hold a meeting. They will discuss the tasks and the schedule appointing those responsible for their carrying out.
At this stage 4 mobilities will take place. Before each the students will have to get prepared on the certain earlier discussed topic. During the mobilities there will be together with the professional part cultural, sports and other entertainment events.
At the closing stage sharing the experience, results evaluation, solving problems will be seen to.

Results to be looked forward to

– Products made by the students.,presentations, placards, photographs, logos, things made of waste.
– Environmental protection programmes, campaigns, competitions.
– Displaying documentation and pictures (on the programme).
– Improving the knowledge of the organisations involving in environmental protection.
– Learning from each other’s experience.
– Leading healthy lifestyle and participating in environmental protection.

Influences

Improving the involved students’ environmental Awareness. They will get the invaluable knowledge and practice that will help them to become more environmental aware (e.g. managing waste wisely). They will get to know the organisations that deal with the issues standing in the way for the better future (water suppliers, sewage cleaning, waste recycling plant). The young people participating in the project will become more environmentally concerned doing their best in the future to make the planet cleaner and more suitable to live on for the generations to come.
