Project Summary

The project idea was born from a strong conviction of the partnership on the importance of health and well-being promotion at school and from a propensity to share and improve their good practices towards more systemic and transversal strategies in the involved schools.

The partners, 5 EU schools from Italy, Denmark, Lithuania, Slovenia and Spain, recognize the need of raising the students’ competences, awareness and sense of responsibility with the aim of introducing concrete changes at schools towards their healthier lifestyles.

PROJECT’S OBJECTIVES:
– development of key competences of pupils: citizenship competence, literacy and digital competences; entrepreneurship competences
– increase of students’ awareness of the importance of healthy, responsible and environment-friendly choices for their individual well-being and for the good of the planet
– strengthening of teachers’ competences towards innovative, transversal and competence-based teaching approaches
– structural consolidation of good practices in the school curriculum towards an innovative, more systemic and transversal approach
– raising active citizenship and enhancing collaborations with local stakeholders towards better understanding of global challenges
– reinforcing European dimension.

YEAH! plans six activities in mobility: one joint staff training and 5 exchanges of groups of pupils. The first teachers’ training will be carried out by an external expert in storytelling and video making and will provide teachers with elements for the creation of an “advertising” spot on the project’s inputs.
The project will then be composed of five subsequent steps and short term student’s exchanges coordinated by the partners according to the relative “specialization areas”:
P1 (IT): healthy, local, seasonal food vs with junk food
P2 (DK): face-to-face relationships as opposed to relations “behind the screen”
P3 (SL): sports, active lifestyle and outdoor education at school
P4 (LT): environmental awareness and sustainability to face climate changes
P5 (ES): healthy use of mobile devices, prevention of cyber-bullying.
In every step all schools will develop project activities at local level, in virtual collaboration (eTwinning) and physical mobility.

DIRECT BENEFICIARIES will be:
– 100 pupils in mobility (12-13 years old)
– 1300 pupils involved on local level and in virtual exchanges
– 40-50 teachers and about 15 other staff members (not teachers)
– at least 100 families of pupils taking part to mobility abroad and hosting students during mobility.
Indirect beneficiaries will be other teachers, pupils and families, local stakeholders and citizens reached through dissemination school events, published material and shared results.

The schools will include participants (about 70) facing situations that make their participation more difficult in mobility or local activities.

The methodology will be pupils’ oriented and based on teamwork, project-based learning and learning-by-doing. The hosting schools will carry out their activities organising workshops, study visits and other activities promoting active pupils’ involvement and peer-to-peer learning. The parallel use of eTwinning will enable participants to carry out activities in virtual collaboration. Didactic use of ICT will be encouraged together with outdoor activities and interaction with local actors and institutions.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
– reinforced participants’ basic skills, especially in the area of active citizenship; literacy, digital and entrepreneurship competences
– increased awareness and changes of preferences, choices and lifestyles of participants toward healthier, more sustainable and environmentally concerned ones
– strengthened teachers’ competences towards innovative, more transversal approaches and methods and project-based didactics
– consolidated, more systemic and transversal strategies of health and well-being promotion at schools
– raised consciousness and strengthened active participation at local community level towards healthier, responsible and more sustainable individual choices, consumption preferences and lifestyles
– raised schools’ competences for collaborations at EU level.

In the long term the project will contribute to the development of the schools through introduction of consolidated good practices in their curriculum and innovative, more systemic and transversal strategies of health promotion. The schools’ staff will enhance their didactic and methodological competences towards innovative and competence-based teaching approaches. Students and teachers will increase their knowledge and consciousness in the areas of the project, changing towards healthier, responsible and more sustainable individual choices, consumption preferences and lifestyles. All the schools will strengthen their EU dimension.

The project’s results will be disseminated and used within the partnership and in schools’ local communities. The dissemination tools will be mostly digital
