Project Summary
“Learning from the past together to understand present- day Europe” is a two-years project involving three secondary schools IES San Lucas (Sanlucar de Barrameda,Spain) Istituto Comprensivo di Via Valleta Fogliano Vigevano and Szkoła Podstawowa z Oddziałami Integracyjnymi in Warsaw, Poland(Vigevano, IES San Lucas, and Polonia) in which we are going to study the richness of our cultural heritage
The main objective of this project is the exchange of good practices and methodology in the study of cultural heritage.
We are going to develop the didactic possibilities of cultural heritage and its social and aesthetic function.and to raise awareness about the importance of European heritage among students, creating critical thinking and analytical skills.
Teachers ,through motivational and attractive activities, will make students connect with European culture through the examples within our cities.
Three school exchanges will take place in the two years that this project lasts. Each of the participating cities will organise one of them. Every exchange will consist of 39 students and 6 accompanying teachers. However, teachers and students of the host school, who do not travel, will also participate in the activities.
We intend that the entire educational community be involved in this project.
It will be supported by an eTwinning project called “Our lives, our cities, our cultural heritage”
This project allows students and teachers from three schools in three European countries to come together to establish linguistic and intercultural understanding. Students will learn how they can be active participants of Europe to create a strong cultural future for Europe, our project hopes to embrace these values. Since these children come from such diverse social and geographical backgrounds, this will be a unique opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of each of those cultures and languages.
Working with our colleagues across Europe will motivate participants to communicate freely with each other in English and other European languages. They will develop their modern foreign languages in a meaningful context, both face to face during visits and through a wide use of different multi-media and create a website to share the outcomes of our project.
Young people will develop skills and competencies such as teamwork, creativity and entrepreneurship necessary for their personal and social development, for their future and to be active European citizens. The project activities will be embedded in each school’s curriculum through the teaching of Social Sciences, English, Geography, Civic Studies and History.
Pupils will be actively involved at every stage reflecting the cultural and sociological profile of each school, from the choice of activities, decisions about how to implement them, monitoring progress and evaluating the impact and success of the project.
The students will develop their confidence in the use of Information and Communication Technologies,, inventing innovative ways of sharing their work and communicating with each other.
The activities implemented in this proyect will also contribute to the development of the involved schools in the long term.
