Project Summary
Project “Design your life” was organized by non-governmental organization – Somali Association in Poland in cooperation with the British organization SHIFT. Project was undertaken topic of Design and was engaged young people with migrant backgrounds into different activities. The participants were young creative and interested in the topic people from 20 to 30 years. These were mainly volunteers from partner organizations as well as individuals from the communities working with the organizations. From the submitted applications we selected 41 participants, half of which will come from migrant backgrounds. The aims of the project were increasing entrepreneurship among the youth, increasing the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, increase awareness of intercultural dialogue, developing basic and interdisciplinary skills such as entrepreneurship, digital skills and multilingualism, growth of innovation in pedagogical and methodological approach in working with young people, improving foreign language skills of the participants. The project based on 2 trainings, one was held in Poland and one in the UK, each project took last for 7 days. During the course, participants took part in workshops, sessions and practical classes about Design as a tool to support and increase chances of the youth on the labor market. After the primary training which was held in Poland, we organized three workshops about design. During this workshops participants shared their knowledge with other youth. After the training in the UK, we organized 12 seminars with practical module with the youth, based on their interests and identified needs. Evaluation conferences were planned after completion of the project, each of them were organized in one country (Poland and UK). We created mini guides and web-based platform to disseminate the project results. The result of the project activities increased the opportunities and learning mobility of young people, strengthening the link between young Europeans and the labor market, as well as through contacts of ethnically mixed groups and participation of unemployed youth was enable to develop intercultural dialogue and integration.
