Project Summary

The project „Beyond the horizon – cultural heritage of Šluknov and Trogir region in posters“ is the outcome of cooperation of upper-secondary technical schools in the Czech Republic and Croatia. Each partner school will choose 8 students and 3 – 4 teachers who will participate in the project. We presume that some of the students will come from the socially disadvantaged environment (particularly in the case of the applying school which is situated in such area).

The main objective is an exchange of methodology and good practices in the field of promotion and tourism in chosen locations. The project aims to raise awareness of the specific regions of Šluknov and Trogir and to deepen the knowledge of the partners’ cultures at the same time. The main project result will be posters and leaflets promoting the cultural heritage of particular regions. The posters focusing on the promotion of local cultural heritage in the European area will also highlight the importance of ecological context. They aim to increase awareness of the countries’ attitude towards heritage and nature preservation. The project results will be presented to the public in local exhibitions and will also be available on the project websites, at the local tourist information centres and in other media. Practical skills will be developed through several professional workshops where the working, professional and language competencies will be strengthened. By participating in this project, students will extend their knowledge of ways of realisation of promotion. They will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice and real life after graduation. A subsequent objective is to embed gained experience, outcomes and examples of good practice into the education process. Knowledge and skills will be passed on in the form of peer-to-peer learning among students and teachers, as well.

Particular activities:
Creating a project website and social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram) will build public awareness of the project and will help to spread the project results. The website will map the progress of the whole project whereas the Facebook profile will serve as a platform informing about current events and Instagram as a platform propagating mainly image materials.
Both schools will conduct field research and select sights to visit on their own. Afterwards, they will send the result to the other party for evaluation and discuss the choices if necessary.
Visiting the chosen sights will help students to find a convenient way of promotion thanks to experience-based learning and cognition.
Professionally led and practically oriented workshop on an introduction to the promotion of tourism will precede the creation of promotional materials. The topics of planned workshops will be an introduction to promotion and its ways, strategies and tools, writing PR texts, work with a photograph, visualising ideas and graphic design using professional software. Students will try a prepress file preparation and realisation of the exhibition.
At the end of each meeting, the feedback will be gathered from the students and teachers which will not only reside in the evaluation of the project contribution but also in comparison of ways of communication and promotion.

The project results will consist of promotional materials of chosen areas in both countries written in three languages (English, Czech, Croatian). They will be presented after the second meeting to the public in local exhibitions organised in collaboration with the local authorities and will be distributed through tourist information centres. This final project phase takes few months. An article about the project and leaflets will be part of the distribution of local press in both countries (as a supplement).

Both schools will acquire new competencies in international project management which can be used in future projects. Some of the activities and their results (promotion of existing sights) can be reflected in the lessons of participating teachers. That way the interdisciplinary based experiences will be passed on other students outside the project. Participating students will spread good practice among the other students and the public. The project results will be used for the education process on both sides. Schools will follow the movement and current location of the project results in both their regions even after the project period.

At the end of the project, the cooperation will be assessed, as well as the similarities and differences in the working process and ways of promotion in both countries.
