Project Summary

ITT-LSSA “Copernico” performs its action into a socio-economic context based on small and medium commercial and crafts businesses which record a high rate of young unemployment. The school operates in an environment considered at risk for the incidence of factors such as an inadequate system of waste collection and disposal, a refinery, an electric power plant, a big number of transmission antennas.
On these premises it lies the necessity of innovative solutions to reduce the critical issues of the territory. As the title suggests, the main purpose of the project is create or enhance entrepreneur skills in the students helping them think to green businesses to reduce environmental issues.
This project involves four countries: Italy, Holland, Portugal and Spain. Its topic and objectives are aligned with the involved schools’ missions, which have worked on projects based on raising environmental awareness. Our idea is to have different sub-topics inside the general topic of green entrepreneurship and to raise the students’ awareness that Earth’s troubles is their business and duty, that they have to put their efforts together to have a better place to live and leave to their posterity. Cooperation among the schools will be enhanced through a permanent process of exchanging positive teaching experiences and by dividing the tasks inside the project management. Its objectives are: to improve the proficiency in foreign languages by linguistic immersion and the development of CLIL methodology; to increase the use of new technologies; to implement and share new methodological approaches where teamwork and the joint acquisition of various key competencies (language competence, natural sciences, environmental education, learning to learn, etc) are enhanced; to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining biodiversity and to promote an eco-friendly behavior; to respect cultural diversity in Europe by fighting against any form of racism, prejudice, discrimination and xenophobia; to promote a greater involvement of families in the school life; to reduce the rate of early school leaving; to increase the rate of internationalization of the schools involved by a permanent cooperation in the development of good practices and sharing of methodological approaches; to increase the cooperation among the schools, the businesses and jobs agencies which operate in the same territory.
The project will involve students, teachers, parents, other school staff, local businesses. The project’s activities include: preparatory, dissemination, evaluation work and short-term exchanges of students. The number of pupils directly involved in the mobilities will be 18 for each school, divided in 3 groups of 6 (age range 13-15 at the project start). Each group will participate in one mobility but will be directly involved in all the project’s activities for two years. During the mobilities the students will be hosted in families. They will be paired to foreign partners according to their age, gender, hobbies, passions. They will communicate exchanging emails, participating into topic discussion inside the eTwinning twinspace of the already started project and, on their choice, using whatsapp chats. The methodology used in the project’s activities will include brainstorming, pair and group work, communicative approach, scientific and investigative method, simulation of real situations, multisensorial approach, cooperative learning, CLIL methods. The project reckons on the use of eTwinning, School Education Gateway, Facebook, Erasmus+ Projects Results Platform.
The ebook ,”How to become a green entrepreneur”, a sort of guide-book which will contain all the green proposals by the students and that will document the whole project; a project space on the school web magazine and on the schools’ websites; presentations; a short movie about the development of the project will be the final products. All the teachers of the schools will benefit from the teacher-student exchanges during the exchange week and all the students will indirectly take advantage of the improvement of the participating teachers’ enhanced skills and, at the same time, will be introduced to the project topic which will be put into some subjects’ curricula. In the long-term the participants students and teachers will have: improved key competences and foreign languages skills; enhanced their entrepreneurial skills; gained more motivation and satisfaction for daily work; improved their ability in using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The organizations will have: enlarged their European dimension; attracted new students; increased the cooperation among the schools, the businesses and jobs agencies which operate in the same territory; helped create new business based on green solution and sustainable development; oriented the students towards new professional careers; involved more students and teachers into new projects of cooperation among schools.
