Project Summary

The central and most important part of the project focused on creating conditions for understanding, communication, solidarity, good future prospects and, above all, strengthening interest in the acquisition of several languages. Our goals and purpose also included the students’ immediate surroundings. Our belief that communication is the basis for creating, building and above all breaking down barriers that prevent us from understanding, accepting each other guided all our activities.
Other factors, such as the declining interest in modern languages in our schools, were the basis of our plans for the project. We realized that this had many negative effects on students’ schooling. One of the consequences that was considered very serious was that they may not succeed in getting into the education they want in the future but also limit their job opportunities.
Students also do worse in countries where knowledge of English is not enough. They also have a poorer understanding of cultures and traditions in other countries because this is part of language teaching.
When the European Union issued a recommendation on eight key competences for lifelong learning, communication in the mother tongue and in foreign languages was two of the skills given. The purpose of the project was to counteract the development of the negative trend described above and create better conditions for students who risk dropping out of their modern language course.
The aim of the project was to make students more competitive by improving their basic skills in modern languages. Those who participated in the project were planned for twenty students from each country Sweden and Spain. The choice of students to participate was strategically made, it would include students with different backgrounds, both socio-economic and school-oriented
The interest in participation will be the driving force that generated efforts to acquire and develop their language capacity to the maximum.
All students are in ninth grade. Since the main reason was based on encouraging, motivating and strengthening the conviction about the importance of acquiring other languages, it is in this group that we can see the effects and the effects of the interest in participation and the project’s goals. From the staff side, two teachers from each country were responsible for the whole project, one of them was the coordinator.
The activities in the project were planned mainly on the use and development of language skills. Especially the aspect that involves communication and verbal fluency. It was thought that the real challenge for the students would be to discover the need to speak a foreign language. The method meant that you use direct communication, create good relationships between our students and also arouse interest in each other’s life situations. The content of the various activities, both in Reus and Stockholm, aimed at direct communication between teenagers and their everyday lives, common interests and questions about future prospects and teenage culture.
The students were stimulated by the new learning environment, gained new perspectives on the world and themselves, learned languages and broader knowledge of global issues and gained valuable contacts for the future.
Teachers received their competence development and the school raised its educational quality. The school’s participation would also affect the incentives for teachers to participate in international projects. Teaching in international cooperation provides the development of skills in the form of new knowledge, perspectives and contacts and stimulates greater interest in global issues and was intended to be a tool for using the new experience inside and outside the classroom.
By visiting other countries, they were able to better understand students and colleagues with foreign backgrounds.
Another aspect was the idea that both students and teachers would change their prejudices and outdated images from other continents as students with a foreign background.
Finally, our work focused on the following goals and expected results:
To increase and establish the prestige and position of the language. Erasmus + key competencies
To arouse interest and motivation to pursue higher education. Erasmus + EU 2020
To increase curiosity and confidence in approaching the surrounding world and its different cultures.
Realize the opportunities for future education, work and social networks Erasmus + EU 2020
To be inspired and dare to have an open mind for new ideas and opportunities. Erasmus + EU2020
To raise the quality of language teaching, ensure and improve results by exchanging experiences, knowledge, reliable pedagogical strategies and methods. Erasmus + EU2020
