Project Summary
The reached aim of the project “The next step of social life through English” is developed teachers and pupils’ language skills in English. There were nine needs for taking part in this project which were fulfilled through project activities: Compared English grammar, conversation abilities, vocabulary and understanding children of the same age from quite different parts of Europe as well as different traditions and experience of teaching English. It was very favorable to share innovative practices in teaching foreign language. Adopted educational different methods and tools in English classes and in extracurricular activities as well as for disadvantages pupils. That international experience was the ideal opportunity to enrich own school, pupils, neighboring society, personal life and career. Social activities encouraged learners to speak and listen to other learners, as well as with people in the project and community. Social life activities in the project broke down barriers and to join people with different culture and traditions. Strengthened profiles of the teaching professions by supporting teachers to deliver high quality teaching, deal with complex classroom realities and adopt new methods and tools in English teaching through curricular and extracurricular activities. Supported schools to tackle early school leaving (ESL) and disadvantage pupils. Developed methods and to created conditions for personalized teaching and learning in order to support each pupil through different topics: culture life and national lifestyle,sport, traditions, plays. Open and innovative education in project schools which provides new methods and resources for educators and learners at target levels. Achieved motivation to be the best – constantly successful teachers and students. Acquired new tools for healthy lifestyle through mixture of sports and games, hiking, healthy cooking and traditional folklore make young people stronger and happier. School evaluation- project school got a perfect reputation after that successful international partnership. It was the ideal opportunity to demonstrate a quality work of school staff and great results of pupils, but it was also the way how to work better, became well-known and desired partners.
Participating organizations in the project “Next step of social life learning through English” were five schools from different countries: First primary school “St St Cyril and Methodius”, Gotse Delchev, Bulgaria; Zakladni skola a Materska skola Olomouc, Gorkého 39, Czech Republic; Altieylul Ortaokulu, TR221, Balıkesir, Turkey; Ins Can Margarit, Corbera de Llobregat, Spain; Rudaminos Ferdinando Ruščico gimnazija, Rudamina, Lithuania. The project started with Transnational project meeting in Gotse Delchev, Bulgaria – M1, which aim was to arrange and establish a successful model for the management of the project.
The project was implemented through five Learning, teaching, training activities in partner schools. Workshops for teachers hold in the Czech Republic – main theme “Souvenir creation”. Workshops for teachers held in Turkey – main theme “The Role of English learning in disadvantaged pupils”. Workshops for teachers hold in Spain – main theme “Drama plays in English learning”. Workshops for teachers hold in Lithuania – main theme “Culture life – National Traditions”. Workshops for teachers hold in Bulgaria – main theme “Nutritious – Healthy Lifestyle”. During those five short-term joint staff training events were implemented the topic “Active life – Healthy Lifestyle”. 58 teachers travelled to project school to took part in Learning, teaching, training activities. In the host schools most teachers also participated in direct project activities. 188 pupils from project schools took part in all project activities, lessons, curricular and extracurricular activities, English tests, surveys, questionnaires.
Final results and products were reached through successful project management and implementation: planning of all activities, management, communication, monitoring, realization of advertising materials, distribution, reporting, etc.
The long term results are: Audio visual cooking dictionary and healthy food cooking surveys, eternal mosaic of natural materials called “Cultural boomerang”, survey impact of Erasmus school partnerships on teachers and pupils in the project, presentation “The Role of English learning in disadvantaged pupils” Website,TwinSpace,“Stamp” of the project, an exhibition of student-made souvenirs, electronic collection of drama plays, DVD with cultural information, Pedagogical report with adopted methods and innovative practices and conditions in English lessons and extracurricular activities for disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils.
