Project Summary
The project “A grasp of graphics and visuals” fully met the expectations of schools educating in photography, graphics and film production. Teachers and students of four partner schools participated eagerly in all project activities. It helped to improve the quality of vocational training by enriching the educational skills of the teachers and their didactic base as well as the competences and social skills of all the participants. The project allows students to be more successful in the European labour market, as they gained insight in the expectations and requirements of local and European employers.
The aims of the project were:
• improvement of the quality and increase of the attractiveness of vocational training in photography, graphics and the film industry
• adjustment of the contents and methods of vocational training to requirements of the digital era and European standards
• development of participants’ skills in the usage of modern information and communication technologies ICT
• development of participants’ social and intercultural competence
• increase of employment opportunities of graduates from partner schools on the domestic and European labour market,
• increase of support for students in the area of achvieing success, including the youth from disfavoured groups
• increase of awareness of both students and teachers on the importance of foreign language learning and enhancing linguistic competence
The project involved about 250 vocational and secondary school students who are interested in the field of new digital technologies, want to expand their knowledge and skills in modern visualization techniques and investigate the operation of the branch labour market. Participating teachers from partner schools played the role of guides and counselors for the young people.
To realize these aims, a number of activities both in partner local schools and four Learning/Teaching/Training Activities during short-term exchanges of groups of pupils were conducted. They were divided into four categories:
1) the rules, conditions and manner of education in the field of photography, graphics and film
2) examples of good practice in the teaching of photography, graphics and film
3) cooperation with employers – education for the labour market
4) promotion of students’ achievements in the field of photography, graphics and film
Within these areas, among others, brochures promoting good practice in teaching vocational subjects, cooperating with employers and promoting students’ achievements were created.
Participants also created multimedia presentations, comics and videos related to the promotion of schools and faculties conducted by these schools .They also organized exhibitions of photographs and graphics. An important element of the project were the meetings with representatives of employers and learning about their requirements. During the visits to the partner schools regular professional training in photography, graphics and film production were taught in workshops. There were also panel discussions and interpersonal exercises in the field of career counseling.
Meetings with employers and artists as well as visits to leading branch companies were organised.
The project made use of a methodology involving all elements of the project. In the identification phase the target and stakeholders groups were distinguished, problems identified and goals set. In the planning phase the priorities, actions and their results, responsibilities, schedules and costs were decided on. Implementation of the project involved implementation of activities based on activating methods. The course of action and the quality of the results were subject to monitoring, control and evaluation.
During the project teaching and educational materials were produced (lesson plans, teaching aids, guidelines for school activities in the areas covered by the project, films, comic books to promote the institutions and taught professions), as well as photographs and graphic works, which were presented during the exhibitions and events summarizing the project- entitled “Celebrating Erasmus +”.
Content and working methods indicated in the project will be permanently implemented in school practice and will be used during vocational classes (photography, graphics, film), vocational English classes and in the framework of activities related to career counseling and entrepreneurship. They will be used for cooperation with employers and local institutions in the future.
