Project Summary
In Europe in 2019, 23.7% of the population (around 118.7 million people) is currently living in poverty and social exclusion. According to Eurostat’s classification, this is the situation of people who are at risk of poverty in terms of income or experience significant material and/or employment difficulties. In general, the risk of poverty is closely correlated with context factors such as family, housing, work and especially educational factors. For example, for young people (<18 years) the risk of poverty and social exclusion is much higher if they come from a family with a low level of education of their parents (64.5%), compared to young people coming from families with a higher level of education(30.3%). The statistics also underline the strong interconnections among different dimensions of economic, social, educational and cultural inconvenience, reaffirming the need to design an integrated development path that can deal with the issues of poverty, sustainability and social inclusion. Social inclusion refers to society itself and the inclusive activities it carries out. The aim of social inclusion is to guarantee the inclusion of each fellow within the society, not to mention the presence of limiting elements such as, for example, disability, nationality or poverty. Inclusive education within school contexts aims to make wider the objectives of the school and its modification in order to be useful to the needs of each student. Inclusive education has, in fact, as its main purpose the adaptation of the school itself to the educational needs of each pupil. It goes beyond the boundaries of the school and is projected into each context, extracurricular, informal, non-formal, enclosing all educational environments. In this context, the ART4ALL project aims at cooperating among 4 European schools located in Italy, Spain, Germany and Poland for the construction of a training and exchange path for students based on art, culture and the use of foreign languages that facilitate social interaction, the exchange of ideas and good practices in order to promote social inclusion and training with an international character. Through art and culture, students learn to communicate with a universal language that turns differences into riches. Music, cinema, art, theatre, figurative arts and new methods for ICT sharing facilitate communication, sharing and promote the integration among students from different backgrounds both geographically and socio-cultural level. Four student mobility and staff mobility will be organized. 96 students from Italy, Spain, Germany and Poland will take part in the mobility for 7 days (5 days of activities and 2 travel days) and will face activities related to music, classical art, cinema and theatre. The mobility of the staff will see as protagonists the School Managers of the 4 school partners and 4 teachers per Institute, for 4 days (2 days of activities and 2travel days) and will deal with themes and didactic methodologies on inclusion through art. Specifically, the objectives that the project intends to pursue are the following: -to improve students' communication skills in English, as well as in their mother tongue; -to foster the study of foreign languages and cultures in a European dimension; -to encourage students to go beyond differences and encourage a more inclusive attitude; -to develop communication and collaboration skills among multicultural groups; -to improve IT skills; -to know and value their cultural traditions; -to support school principals and teachers in creating a more internationalised and inclusive school environment. The project outputs will be: -an eBook produced by students that will include all the topics discussed during the mobility in the form of essays, images, audio and video; -Quiz on Kahoot: a quiz of 40 questions on the material collected in the eBook; -documentary that will summarize the experience and cultural richness faced in each country. The impact will be: -the improvement of school evaluation in foreign languages and in students' art history; -the enhancement of the knowledge of the Italian, German, Polish and Spanish artistic and cultural heritage in the areas defined by the project; -the reduction of exclusion/marginalization episodes within the mobility participants and creation of a more fair and inclusive school environment; -new teaching methods for inclusion through art.
