Project Summary

The project titled “Art and Culture Join People” was designed for the secondary school students in the three countries: Slovakia – the Secondary School of T. Vansova 32 in Prievidza, Turkey – Ufuk Arslan Anadolu Lisesi, Ankara and Greece – 50th Senior High School in Athens. The international project was focused on the joint initiatives to promote cooperation, mutual learning, sharing ideas, experiences and methods, as well as the confrontation in the field of art and culture. The project was implemented through the international exchanges of pupils with accompanyingpersons. It was scheduled for 23 months from the 1st September 2016. The content of the project activities was realized through two transnational meetings in Slovakiaand Greece M1, M2 and three project short-term exchanges of six students and two accompanying persons in all three countries C1, C2, C3. The transnational meetings took place at the beginning and the end of the project duration. The participants focused their attention on the management, preparation and evaluation of educational, teaching and training activities. The students’ activities programme focused on cultural and artistic motifs that are attractive to youth nowadays. In the capital of Greece, in Athens, the students learned to dance classical Greek dances, made and launched the kites, what is a Greek pre-Easter custom, they visited architectural and archaeological monuments in Athens, Acropolis, museum, the theatre of Epidaurus, ancient Mycenae and Marathon. Visiting Turkey in Ankara, pupils presented Turkish cuisine, traditional Turkish marble painting, treasure hunt, and they visited the mausoleum of the founder and the first president of Turkey. The visit in Slovakia was focused on the district of Prievidza mostly. The students visited the chateau and the Zoo in Bojnice. The students worked in creative workshops, they produced jewellery, decorative and utilitarian items, they worked with the photographs they had taken before
and created postcards. They got acquainted with Slovak folk music and dances, they learnt to sing the hymn composed for the project. They were also shown the High Tatras with the aim to see the Tatra House and its ice statues. The project ended on the 31st July 2018. All results had been released to the general public on the Erasmus + VALOR project platform, as well as eTwinning platform, Greek, Turkish and Slovakian school sites, Youtube, Facebook, local Turkish newspapers, Greek and Slovak radio. The most important results of the students’ work are the personal experiences of visiting the partners’ countries, personal meetings and communication in English, work with computers, media, creating a project logo, making a four language dictionary with a regular conversation in print and digital form, videos containing project activities, a four-language calendar, three photo-books from all the
meetings, products from workshops, school exhibitions, newsletters, discussions, presentation of the hymn of the project in four languages, many presentations on local traditions, holidays, personalities. After every short-term exchange to the country, a questionnaire on the quality of the visit was filled in and the participants were given the Certificates of Participation. The students and teachers have been proceeding with communication on Facebook, some even personally after the project end. The realization of the project makes a good name not only to our school, but also to our country.
