Project Summary

The project “Books and MORE” stood by a more modern, dynamic, committed and professional environment inside the schools. It was carried out in four European schools in Lens (France) , Delmenhorst (Germany), Rzeszow (Poland) and Penalva do Castelo (Portugal).
The main aim of the project was to improve key competences, such as reading comprehension in native and foreign language, creating own texts and communicating in foreign languages. We have achieved this by creating stories about heroes yesterday and today, reading texts in the English language, writing reviews and creating stories in international groups.
While taking part in the project tasks, the participants have had numerous opportunities to come across both traditional and online media offer. This has enabled them to use critical approach towards these resources and to develop the skills of objective assessment, effective research and filtering the information, thus making them more proficient users of electronic media. The project participants, both students and teachers, have greatly improved their IT skills through the use of film making programmes, creating subtitles, recording sound and making presentations.
The main result is the final product in form of an ebook „How media change education – ebook from students to students”, which is a compilation of students’ literary and film work, as well as audio recordings, presentations, podcasts and artistic photographs. There are also examples of good practice of using tablets during lessons of different subjects.
Another result is equipping the students with new IT skills crucial to function in ever-changing environment, which they will be able to use on further stages of education and which will make them more competitive on the job market.
Making students knowledgeable users of electronic media and equipping the teachers with concrete IT tools, enabling them to improve their work practices, are the long-term benefits of the project.
