Project Summary
BACKGROUND
Thanks to a partnership between an association and two schools, this project aims to develop support for the professional integration of young Italians, French and Spanish.
OBJECTIVES
Develop their knowledge / know-how / interpersonal skills
Fostering the professional integration of young people
1. Introduce young people to new contexts and enable them to experiment with solutions to develop their knowledge outside the school environment
– Help them to develop their language level, or at least convince them to “dare to communicate in a foreign language” – Break down the perfectionist barrier that prevents many young people from speaking in a foreign language –
– Discover or deepen their knowledge of Europe in general, and partner countries in particular (cultures, systems)
2. Introduce young people to and experiment with solutions to develop their know-how / skills (work experience)
– Help them to understand the challenges of the professional world (rules, constraints, opportunities, career plans, lifelong learning)
– To give them a “taste” of the professional world through direct contacts with people in the professional world (managers, employees)
3. To help young people discover and experiment with solutions to develop their interpersonal skills/behaviour and emotional intelligence
– Test the adaptability of young people through the various activities proposed
– Put young people in potentially uncomfortable situations and prove to them that they are able to (or help them) get out of their comfort zone.
Beyond that, these situations will be ideal for developing “encouraging” attitudes in their relationships with others, due to the intercultural interest of this project.
ACTIVITIES
The working methods will vary according to the proposed activities.
– Company visit /
* Before: awareness of the visit.
= design of a questionnaire to be asked to the visit manager to develop curiosity, the method of searching for information
* During: dynamism, curiosity and respect
= questions and answers with the visit manager, in compliance with the proposed rules
* After: synthesis / analysis
= creation of a final support summarizing each visit
= personal reflection on personal and professional project (opportunity?)
– Interviews with professionals /
* Before: preparation of the questionnaire
* During: question administration and active listening
* After: creation of a “trades box” grouping the different trades discovered (paper and/or digital)
– Game “Recruitment interview” /
* Before: creation of recruitment tools by each young person (CV, cover letter, video CV)
* During: recruitment interview / each young person applies for a few positions and the jury is composed of professionals (employees, managers)
* Afterwards: synthesis by the juries (dynamism, oral fluency, behaviour, reactivity, adaptability) and personal reflection accompanied by each young person to remove the strong points and points for improvement.
RESULTS / IMPACTS / BENEFITS
– On the participants:
They will have the experience to develop transversal skills (knowledge, know-how, interpersonal skills) and help them to understand and master the professional integration process.
Young participants will better understand and accept the value of rules in a family, school and professional context. They will dare more.
– On the participating organizations:
This project will be a successful experience in European cooperation and collaboration. This project will give even more credibility to our respective structures. Success also gives confidence outside organizations and can become a recruitment lever thanks to the image conveyed (dynamism, openness, accessibility of services…).
– On other target audiences:
The objective is also to achieve more broadly:
– young people and their families around each participating organization. The need for openness, to leave one’s comfort zone, to leave one’s bearings is real. This is THE condition for a more accurate assessment of one’s living conditions. Thanks to the stays for young people and the welcome for families, this objective will be achieved and will make an impact on their minds to the point of spreading messages in the surroundings.
– The “one-off” partners solicited will also discover more about what “young people today” are. For some professionals, this experience may encourage them to reflect on how to adapt their working methods to what young people expect.
