Project Summary

The idea of the project came from our NGO’s volunteers who wish to contribute more to the well-being of low-income youth. Volunteers expressed their readiness for greater responsibility and for organizing events, trainings and workshops for the target group (NEETs and low-income youth). Some of our volunteers themselves come from low-income families and have recently focused on self-development and on entering the labor market during their student years.
The aim of the project is to reduce inequalities between low-income youth and their peers in the Baltics by involving them in various activities. As a result the participants are more aware of national and international opportunities available to them. We raise awareness in society about the issues surrounding our target audience. We expect 100 young people in Estonia every week for the various activities of the project. In Latvia and Lithuania, weekly events are expected to be attended by 30 participants in each country.
Planned activities are following: workshops, trainings, seminars, volunteer meetings and field trips. The aim of the events is to increase young people’s self-confidence.
The project affects several stakeholders. First, there are direct benefits for project participants who acquire knowledge and skills that can be applied in everyday life in the future. The project also affects Estonian society more generally – by helping to reduce hidden and structured unemployment. We also involve NEETs in the project, who are often out of focus and feel excluded.
By the end of the project, low-income youth in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be healthier and more aware of their potential. The relationships created between the participants facilitate success in future working life. As a result, the future workforce in the Baltics will also be more competitive.
