Project Summary

Mathematics is an international language of signs and symbols recognised all over the world and will provide a good way to overcome language and social barriers. The importance of Mathematics has never been greater than now and in the foreseeable future. Our common goal: Improving the ability of pupils to solve mathematical problems in maths classes and real life situation.To face the challenges of the 21st century each young person needs to have the confidence in using mathematical skills, and Europe needs both specialist mathematicians and a highly numerate population.

Our project arose from joint desire of making learning and teaching Maths more effective. According to deep data analysis our pupils are afraid of this subject, they don’t have learning motivation and find Maths very difficult.We created our project to improve the level of key competences through access to high quality innovative education and adopting teaching and learinig to surrounding reality.Math is an important tool for other subjects and everyday life, so pupils need to know it well. “MATHS IS LIFE ” project is designed for pupils coming from 6 EU countries (TR-RO-IT-PT-ES-GR) and the direct target represents primary schools pupils aged 7-11.
Our partnership aims to increase the participants’ awareness of the importance of learning Mathematics and help them to acquire basic mathematical skills for the future. Pupils will solve and create simple mathematical problems and will use ICT tools to present their achievements, share them with other partners and spread their ideas in their communities, regions and countries.We believe that the study period at primary school is suitable for pupils to discover the interesting, fun, playful, magical, beautiful side of mathematics and to remove any prejudice towards them.

The aims and methodology of our project summarize the educational rationale underpinning the right of all pupils to enjoy and succeed in developing their knowledge and understanding, skills, attributes and capabilities in numeracy and mathematics.An innovative approach leading to increase pupils’ motivation and interest in learning Math is promoted by the project. The activities aim at encouraging learning by doing, by discovering, developing thinking skills, Project Based Learning,imagination, creativity and English and ICT skills.

We plan 6 LTTAs ( ROMANIA,ITALY, TURKEY ,SPAIN,PORTUGAL and GREECE).The total number of participants who will take part in the mobilities is approximately 120 pupils and 104 teachers.”The teachers from the project team are very happy about the fact that the spirit of the international cooperation will be integrated into the schools curricula and will lead to the internationalization of the schools, even after the project is completed.

We expect the following intangible results: increasing Mathematics skills and competence, improving Mathematics assessment, stimulating creativity in teaching and learning Math and developing motivation to use cross-curricular materials and inquiry-based learning in the educational process.

We belive that our project will bring longer benefits too,specaifically;
-establishing and extending international relations for further future cooperation
-motivating to longlife learnnig
-replicability and transferability of the project outcomes in education
-enable teachers within the EU countries to cooperate and to produce common outputs that will be used by their schools as well as by other schools.
