Project Summary
This projectconnecting the “Neue Mittelschule Anger” (secondary school in Austria) and the school in Szederkeny (Hungary) was developed forthe following reasons:•For a further understanding of the social, linguistical and cultural diversity of the different groups•For a growth and positive mindset concerning the structure and values of the EU (democracy and tolerance)•To develop digital competences and use this knowledge•Sport should work as a tool to overcome linguistic barriersAbout 70 students in the age of 11 to 13 are going to participate in this project. They are attending the fifth and seventh grade of compulsory school.The academic year of 2020/21 is used to build the contact between the two groups. The main focus will be on letters, videocalls and other digital connections. This leads to the excursion, an exchange program, and the face-to-face contact between the participants. The personal interaction will help to improve the linguistic expression. Methods of the realizationThe aim is that the pupils learn about the culture of their own countries. They will broaden their mind and learn new things about their region throughtours and excursions. The pupils have to document their new knowledge with the help of different methods and pass it on to their exchange partners. This exchange of knowledge is going to be both digital as well as analogue, before and during their visits.The pupils will use letters or videocalls, but also creative art or theatre plays to transmit this knowledge; recorded video will be shown to the partner school. During the personal exchange the focus is going to be on the joint sport. The longer lasting aim is to decrease cultural and linguistic barriers and to build and develop personal relationships. These relationships should lead to a communication without prejudice and furthermore to an improvement of working conditions and the tourism. Also the gained knowledge about digital communication tools will help the pupils in their future working careers.
