Project Summary
Fundamental Rights of the European Union (chapter V), the european reality can put in danger these precepts.
This project has tried to improve the European perception of the schools taking part on it through global learning activities by the work on 5 large knowledge units:
1. Origins: by the study of common aspects and differences allowing enriching the culture of the European people.
2. Wars and migrations: new generations have to know the great warlike conflicts affecting Europe, giving special relevance to the most recent wars, such as the “Wars in the Balkans” and the negative consequences caused, specially, migratory movements.
3. Opening to the World: in a current turbulent environment it’s necessary for Europe to open to the World and to describe the contributions from the European area to the progress of humanity, such as the birth of democracy, the contribution to the arts and the Discovery of America.
4. Cultural and Scientific Legacy: European cooperation has allowed scientific progress and the transformation of cities in the last decades that have to include the vulnerable social collectives.
5. Socio-economic legacy: citizens have to be conscious of the current problems such as globalization and the environmental deterioration and we have to analyze social and economic repercussions caused and also how those aspects have improved the European citizenship concept through cultural diversity in Europe.
This project has improved European construction in principles such as solidarity, freedom and the sense of belonging to European citizenship and it has allowed analyzing key aspects in the last years such as the austerity and the underweighting of European citizenship through the reduction of solidarity among people.
Its objectives have been:
Analyze the successive cultures rising up in Europe through the centuries allowing understanding the importance of diversity as a key element to reach the improvement of European citizenship.
Understand the effects caused by warlike conflicts during the XX Century related to the great migratory processes and their incident in the Chapter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
Identify and value the great current European challenges related to the preservation of the environment, the economic globalization and the migratory processes.
Expected results from the project have been reached, and they are:
Creation of 5 learning units related to each of the knowledge units applying Project Based Learning, Flipped Classroom and Service-Learning.
Creation of the Web for the project and eTwinning space.
Design of the project’s logo.
Exhibition of the materials and objects related during the project.
Creation of a learning dossier related to European diversity as an opportunity to improve European citizenship.
Creation of an e-book by means of exelearning to allow its use in teaching platforms.
Involved students were aged between 15 and 17 years old because in most of the educational systems of participant countries are in the age zone where students can use a more structured thinking, in accordance with the project’s objectives.
Teachers have helped in the implementation of new methodologies and families have collaborated in their sons’ learning process by the execution of learning workshops.
Student’s meetings having taken place have been:
1. February 2019 in Latvia.
2. Aprill 2019 yn Slovakia.
3. October 2019 in Greece.
4. February 2020 in Spain.
5. May 2021 Virtually in Italy.
