Project Summary

The project raises Western Balkan (WB) universities´ capacity to deliver applicable knowledge for the modernization and Europeanization of their countries. It aims at reflecting and enhancing standards in EU by regular academic exchange of good practice and sustainable networking. As expertise in the field of European polity, politics and policies is one of the key skills for future elites in any European country, the establishment of European integration as subject of the curriculum and the expected fostering of intercultural competence will strengthen the employability of both, WB and EU students. The concept of multilevel governance as a teaching principle reflects the realities of European politics on all levels (supranational, national and subnational) and helps actors from the WB to integrate expected expertise about European politics into their current or future activities in domestic and regional practice in a preaccession era. The curriculum can be expected to be highly relevant for the labor markets and societies of WB countries, also because of its transfer of well proven and innovative teaching methodologies. On the administrative level, the project contributes to a better understanding of European requirements in the higher education system and helps to reach comparable standards according to the Bologna process. The project therefore will- deliver accredited joint/multiple degree curricula for MA Political Science delivered in cooperative work of EU and WB experts and taught in English.- train teacher of WB universities in new and innovative teaching methodologies.- educate MA alumni with multilevel government approach on the complexity of politics in a globalized world on the standard of the art of Political Science in all fields of the subject with two fields of specialization. In these fields of specialization the topic of MA thesis work and obligatory internship will connect the students to needs of stake holder for WB modernization.
