Project Summary

This project arises from the need of our schools to advance in the process of internacionalization. From our experience on European projects, we have verified through surveys to families, students and teachers that these School Exchange Partnerships have been a great source of motivation for the entire educational community and have enriched our school in areas such as inclusion, respect for differences and openness to Europe.
This project that we now present originates from the analysis of our closest reality, the knowledge of our environment and the desire to give value to the resources of proximity that often go unnoticed but are essential in our community. We want to value two axes that shape our idiosyncrasies:water and channels on the one hand and bicycle tourism as a sustainable way of transport on the other.

The general objective of the project, refered to our horizontal priority, is to value the European cultural heritage and take on responsability for a better Europe as far as sustainability is concerned .In the project we develop, related to water and cycling, we would like to highlight two objectives. On one hand, to value the importance of water in our lives and the origins of the channels that are all over Europe and on the other hand to promote the use of the bycicle, along eurovelo routes to know the heritage of Europe while we pedal.

The participant schools in this project are four, Palencia in Spain who coordinates, Kuopio in Finland, Aalst in Belgium and Stancuta in Romania. Three out these four schools have no experience in European projects so it will be a new experience for most of the students and families involved. Most teachers however have a wide experiece in these programmes while they have been working at different schools. Three out of four coordinators have experienced coordinating previuos prejects and that makes it easier for the project to be successful.
We plan to involve not only the students who take part in the mobilities, but also the whole educational community so we will succeed in our aim to internationalize our schools.

After thinking about activities carefully, we agreed to carry out the same activities in every school , so we can share results and compare them more easily on Twinspace. The activities that we have decided and designed are aimed at achieving the above mentioned objectives. We have organized activities that are meaningftul to the students involved and to the educational community as well. We have designed a board of 20 activities including the mobilities. We have tried to organize activities that are equally related to the main two topics : water and cycling.
We have designed the list of activities so that nearly every month there is an activitiy being carried out in relation to the project so the project will be part of our schools life and it won´t be something exceptional that we do from time to time. We want our schools to breath the project, to have it always in mind so we can build European awareness on the way. Every country has contributed with a description of the activities to be done in the mobility they host and they have chosen those which match the objectives and are more significant to their cultural background.

In relation to the methodology to be used, we will try to implement different methodologies:
– a methodology based on collaborative work among all the participants, not only among the students from the same school but also with peers from other schools by means of Twinspace and the mobilities as well.
-a methodology based on the use of ICT since our activities and final products are mostly developed on line, and the use of computers is essential in any educational project.
-an active methodology, to promote an effective learning. Students will be responsible for most of the activites planned they will be fully involved in the design, implementation and assessment of the project.

As far as the concrete results we would like to produce, we consider they can be classified into two different categories:
-Intangible results: greater sensibility towards the closest and also European culture, improvement of linguistic skills, knowledge acquired and a positive effect on teamwork within our schools.
-Tangible results: researches, reports, brochures, articles, assessment reports, presentations , infographics…will be included. As a summary of the project, there will be two products a PHOTO BOOK/ALBUM which gathers all the activities done during the project and a VIDEO-DOCUMENTARY that will be shared among all the participants so that it can be used as a way of promoting the project in their schools and communities. This video will be also in eTwinning, Erasmus PRP and different social networks.

We consider that there will be a long-term impact in our educational communities related to the awareness on being part of Europe and the knowledge of traditions, resources and culture revolving around water, channels and cycling.
