Project Summary
Geoparks are unique and rare natural heritages for us from the Mother Earth. Geoparks bring education, awareness of protection and economic development to societies. The role of education is very important in the sustainability of life in nature. This sustainability is only possible to recognize and understand the nature and Mother Earth. The most efficient way of the education of introducing the Earth we live on and creating the awareness of protecting the nature to the next generations is experiencing, observing, exploring and discovering the World Heritage Geoparks. Reproduction of these Natural/Historic/Cultural heritages is not possible. At this point, protecting the nature and each product of nature becomes important. The sustainability of geoparks will keep parallel with the sustainability of the awareness on their protection. Contributing the sustainability of Geoparks, we would like to educate our students who are aware of them, a heritage from our Mother Earth, sensible towards them and responsible to take care of them as well as taking action about them.Including studies on “How does Earth shape People’s Culture in terms of housing/farming/eating habits/sports? we will take our students’ attention on Cultural Heritage at local level as well. Having the same objectives, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Turkey created this project.
With this project we aim to raise awareness about geoparks, the protection of the Natural/Historic/Cultural Heritage, to increase the competences of the students on scientific studies and the motivation of students towards science, geography, geology and to contribute to the EC vision and the Year of Cultural Heritage.
The participants of this project are 15-17 year old students who are sensitive about natural and environmental issues. We plan to give priority to students with social and economical obstacles.
We plan to have LTT activities in each country and use educational excurtions, observation, laboratory experiments, workshops, presentations, roundtable discussion, CLIL, Flipped Classroom, exhibition, web 2.00 tools workshop as our methodology within this project.
